This is one of the songs that helped me keep my nose to the grindstone and manifest our dream. Lin and I were into the Mother Earth News, live sustainably, back to land movement. When we built the Buda Treehouse in 1983, Buda had a population of 789. We were in "the country". We had made it!!! We had no idea that in 30 years we would become south Austin.

A HIGHWAY GOODBYE:
When Guy Clark first sang “L.A. Freeway”, it wasn’t just about leaving a city — it was about escaping a life that didn’t fit his soul. With a guitar case full of dreams and the Texas dust still clinging to his boots, he wrote it after packing up his small Los Angeles apartment, whispering to himself, “If I can just get off of this L.A. freeway…” The song became a hymn for every restless spirit who ever felt trapped by the noise of the world. Years later, when Clark sang it on stage with a half-smile and a faraway look, you could still hear the gravel roads of home echoing in his voice — weary, free, and utterly true.

This little fawn blessed us at the Treehouse today. We keep a third of an acre wild. So that those animals that have been displaced by development have a safe place to exist.

This is the first fawn of the year. We keep a quarter acre wild for all of the wildlife displaced by all the development.

The City of Buda, newly designated as a “Music-Friendly Texas Certified Community” by the Texas Music Office, is excited to join the Make Music Day movement. Make Music Day, held every year on June 21, is a worldwide celebration where everyone is invited to make music — from seasoned performers to first-time players. Expect pop-up concerts, sidewalk serenades, and spontaneous jam sessions all over town! 🌍🎷🎶
