Maybe I’m out of step, but I genuinely don’t understand when public appearance stopped being a consideration. I walked into Walmart and saw an entire family shopping in what looked like straight-up sleepwear—pajamas, slippers, oversized clothing, unbrushed hair—the full “just rolled out of bed” look. And nobody even seemed to react because it’s so common now.

To me, it feels a bit careless, like public spaces are starting to feel like extensions of people’s bedrooms. I’m not asking for anything fancy—just basic effort when going out in public.

I took a photo because it genuinely surprised me, and I’m left wondering if standards have shifted this much or if I’m just noticing a trend that’s already normal now.

WHOEVER DID THIS… seriously, what were you thinking??

From far away, it looked like a normal trash can. Just sitting there by the curb like every other one. Nothing weird. Nothing suspicious.

So yeah… I barely clipped it with my car. Thought it would tip, maybe roll out of the way.

It didn’t move.
Not even a little.

Because it wasn’t a trash can. It was basically a rock.
FILLED. WITH. CEMENT.

The impact felt like I slammed straight into a wall. Now my hood is bent, bumper crushed, headlight completely gone… all from something that shouldn’t even be there like that.

Who does this?? Who thinks it’s okay to turn a trash bin into a literal hazard and leave it right where cars are driving??

I’ve already called the police. And if this belongs to you… we’re going to have a serious conversation.

This isn’t “bad luck.”
This is negligence.

Unpopular opinion: the quickest way to kill tipping culture is to stop tipping when you dine in.

People always ask why those of us who hate tipping still go to sit-down restaurants.
Simple — because not participating is the only real leverage customers have.

And yeah, I’ve heard all the alternatives:

“Wait for legislation.”
Most of us aren’t lawmakers, and every time it comes up, nothing actually changes.

“Just stay home.”
So we’re supposed to stop living normal lives because businesses won’t pay wages?

“Only support no-tip spots.”
Cool idea… except those are rare in most places.

“Just get takeout.”
So now we’re paying full restaurant prices to eat lukewarm food out of a plastic container — and half the time they still ask for a tip anyway.

Here’s the part nobody wants to say out loud:
As long as customers keep covering payroll with tips, businesses have zero reason to change.

Every tip is one less dollar the employer has to own.
Servers rely on customers.
Owners rely on customers.
And the whole system keeps going because people keep feeding it.

If enough people just paid their bill and stopped tipping out of guilt, the pressure would finally land where it actually belongs — on the employer.

Because once tips stop filling the gap, the system stops working.

You don’t end tipping by participating in it.
You end it by opting out.

Saw a coffee shop with a sign taped to the glass that said:

“NO TIPPING = NO SERVICE.”
“We can’t serve without at least an 18% tip.”
“Tipping is required.”

So we’re just skipping the “optional” part completely now?

It’s not “tips appreciated” or even a built-in service fee—it’s basically saying 18% extra or don’t bother ordering.

And that’s the part that doesn’t sit right.

Because if tipping is required, it’s not really a tip anymore—it’s just part of the price, just written in a more aggressive way.

Why not just charge the actual price upfront?

It feels like it turns a normal coffee order into a negotiation before you’ve even walked inside.

And honestly… that kind of welcome doesn’t make me want to stay.

At what point did eating out turn into customers being expected to help cover payroll?

I paid for my food, the taxes, and the full total on the bill. That’s what I agreed to when I ordered.

I didn’t leave a tip on purpose—not because I’m trying to disrespect anyone, but because I don’t think staff wages should depend on customers filling the gap.

If employees aren’t being paid enough, the solution should be fixing wages directly, not putting the responsibility onto every customer who walks through the door.

I’m there to pay for a meal, not act as part of the restaurant’s compensation system.

I saw this sitting by the checkout at an old gas station and I honestly can’t tell if it’s a $100 gift card or a psychological trap disguised as a sign 😭

People keep walking up, reading it left to right like normal… then realizing the tiny instructions say to read it right to left.

Apparently one guy got so frustrated he said the store was “playing mind games,” which honestly feels accurate.

And the worst part? It literally warns you not to say it too fast… which somehow makes everyone want to say it faster.

I don’t know what’s happening here, but I don’t trust it.

Today was absolutely unreal.
The last ticket of the day was #260… and for humble folks like us, that number is mind blowing. ❤️

Tacos were flying out nonstop, orders just kept coming in, and at one point we even had to turn the phones off because the lines inside the store were wrapped up. We truly apologize to anyone we missed or had to turn away today.

We over-prepped.
We over-cooked.
Then cooked again.
And somehow by 6:45 PM… we were COMPLETELY sold out of everything.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. Thank you for supporting two small family businesses, for being patient with us during the chaos, and for continuing to show us love day after day.

Days like today remind us why we do this. We’re tired, grateful, humbled, and already getting ready to do it all again tomorrow. 🌮❤️

When the bill came, I left a small tip and moved on.
And yeah… I know how that sounds.
These days, it feels like anything under 20% gets judged hard, like you did something wrong.
But when did tipping stop being optional and start feeling like a mandatory extra charge?
I paid for the meal, covered the full bill, and still left something on top.
So honestly—has that stopped being enough, or has tipping just gotten out of hand?

This Walmart driver dumped a pile of heavy groceries right in front of my door, completely blocking me inside—apparently because they didn’t get a $50 tip upfront for just a few minutes of work. What if there had been a fire? I have elderly family members at home, and we’re basically trapped, having to climb over stacks of soda and water just to get out or even reach our mail.

This is the side of serving people don’t usually see.
Table of two.
14oz prime rib. A glass of Cabernet. Full service all night.
Everything went smoothly—
✔️ Drinks refilled
✔️ Timing on point
✔️ No complaints
✔️ “Everything was great” at the table
The bill came out to **$101.92**, including an automatic 18% service charge.
They paid it… and left **$0.00** on the tip line.
And here’s the part that sticks—
the receipt clearly says:
**“The service charge is not a tip or gratuity.”**
So the information was there.
The experience was good.
The appreciation just didn’t follow through.
That’s the gap people don’t always see.
Because for many servers, tips aren’t “extra.”
They’re the paycheck.
Base wage? Around $2 an hour.
Everything else depends on what’s left behind.
And moments like this hit differently—not because it’s one table,
but because it adds up.
You can do everything right…
hear that everything was perfect…
and still walk away feeling like it didn’t matter.
So yeah—if the service was good, the tip still counts.
Even when there’s already a charge on the bill.
This one?
Harder to shrug off than most.
