There’s a plan to catch the perpetrators of illegal dumping in the act. Though exact locations and timing remain undisclosed, the City of Buffalo plans to deploy trap cameras at illegal dumping hotspots to catch those responsible.

There’s a fine of $2,200 for those convicted.

I spent the morning volunteering with East Side Stewards, who revitalize green space and vacant lots to create community assets, like this garden on Winslow Ave. And they have so much growing here right now, from beautiful rainbow chard, peppers and snap peas, to apples, tomatoes, marigolds and the biggest basil plant I have ever seen! I spoke to the Buffalo police union president and heard from Deputy Mayor Maria Whyte, yesterday.

The Buffalo police union has been without a contract for over a year, with the union president claiming the Ryan administration has "stonewalled" negotiations. But the Deputy Mayor disagrees.

Starting July 1, Buffalo Sewer rates will increase by around $2 per month for the average homeowner. But I had to dig for this info and customers have not yet been directly notified. Other than this report, most Buffalonians will find out about the rate hike when their bill comes through starting Wednesday. In this report, I ask the Sewer Authority why customers only learn of the hikes through people like me pushing for answers, rather than directly from them.

Buffalo homeowners will see an increase in their sewer and water bills as soon as July 1 — one from the Buffalo Sewer Authority and a potential second from the Buffalo Water Board.

A South Buffalo couple reached out to me to tell me city workers had entered their yard and chopped down a massive tree without their permission. The couple have enjoyed the tree for 42 years. I called city officials to see what they had to say. Deputy Mayor Benjamin Swanekamp admitted the city's forestry team made a mistake. He apologized to the couple and has agreed to replace the tree.

Houghton pool will not open this summer. The pool and shelter are slated for a state-funded makeover, but the condition of the shelter is so bad it’s set to be demolished. A brand new facility will be build instead.
