The need in central Texas right now, one week after catastrophic flooding, is for heavy equipment. Not for large numbers of volunteers to show up, said Steve Tybor, President and CEO of the faith-based disaster relief group Eight Days of Hope.

Parishioners at Blessed Sacrament in Tonawanda, Our Lady of Peace in Clarence, St. Bernadette in Orchard Park, St. Aloysius Gonzaga in Cheektowaga and St. John XXIII in West Seneca are pushing back against the plan to pay for a $150 million settlement.

Five parishes are suing the Diocese of Buffalo to prevent the use of parish funds for a $150 million settlement with child s*x abuse survivors. Attorneys James I. Myers and John Flaherty are representing the churches in this lawsuit.
