Horns Up! - A Night of Metal & Punk at The Merry Shelley is just 2 weeks away! I'll be spinning METAL (heavy, metal core, goth, alternative, metalcore, thrash, x-over, prog, etc.) and PUNK (70's, Oi!, 80's, HxC, ska-punk, pop, post HxC, deathrock, etc.) all night long.

In light of the tragic passing of Brett Hinds this week, I'll be paying tribute by featuring some extra Mastodon in his honor.

AFI just dropped a brilliant new single, "Behind the Clock", from their forthcoming album, 'Silver Bleeds the Black Sun' and it's oozing with spectacular goth/darkwave vibes, a la The Cure/Peter Murphy but in their own style, and I am ABSOLUTELY here for it. Anyone who knows me, knows that music is a vital part of my life. From spinning The J Geils Band’s `Freeze Frame’ record over and over and over at the age of 10, to the 1000+ concerts I’ve attended up until now, music is embedded in my DNA.

Throughout my musical journey, there have been a few bands that heavily influenced who I am today. One of those bands is The Tragically Hip. While I was lucky enough to see them over 50 times, I still haven’t been able to fully listen to them since Gord’s passing from glioblastoma in Oct 2017. Gord was one of my musical heroes. An enigmatic musical genius and the very definition of art meets poetry meets music. I still miss him every day, and I miss The Hip on regular rotation in my life’s playlist.

With many thanks to Alex Beahan at Black Bear Tattoo, I now get to carry and honor his profound effect on me with me every day.

So beyond excited to see Dropkick Murphys, once again, tomorrow night at Outer Harbor Live at Terminal B with the mighty fellow punk legends Bad Religion. I’ve been listening to DKM’s new album, `For the People’ nonstop these last few weeks and it’s amazing from start to finish, filled with songs about power to yourself and the people, worker’s rights, childhood nostalgia, odes to Shane McGowan from The Pogues and Fletcher from Pennywise and a brief return appearance from Al Barr.

If you align with socially, ethically, and politically correct and positive punk rock – this release is a must for you. DKM have always stood up for the underdogs, workers, veterans and disenfranchised while pushing back against the corrupt powers that look to hold us down and that is abundantly evident in this offering. They have also been very vocal about their disdain and disgust with the current White House resident, and I absolutely applaud them for not being afraid to do so as fearlessly as they have. All those crying, “I wish they would just keep politics out of their music” don’t have the first clue about the roots of punk rock and certainly don’t know the Dropkick Murphys.

If you haven’t yet heard the first single, `Who’ll Stand with Us’, take 3:51 out of your day and do yourself a favor. It shouts what many of us have been for so long now. ✌️🖤🤘

Speechless. Holy s**t, we are absolutely speechless. All of us at The Merry Shelley are truly overwhelmed by the incredible turnout last night for We are the Weirdos - a Spooky Dance Party. You showed up and showed out, and we can't thank you enough! We adore our TMS community and hope you had as much fun as we did. Many many heartfelt thanks to and .rotten for being a part of this wonderful event! My setlist from last night is below.

I hope to see EVERYONE at EFDN presents, 'DJ Servo's 4th Annual Birthday Bash' on Sat, Aug 16.
