🚨 TRAGEDY ON THE GUADALUPE RIVER: FLASH FLOODING CLAIMS DOZENS OF LIVES 🚨
A devastating flash flood struck the Guadalupe River early Friday morning, turning what should have been a peaceful holiday weekend into a heartbreaking disaster. Torrential rainfall caused the river to surge by over 20 feet in just under two hours, catching many off guard as the water overwhelmed camps, roads, and communities in Central Texas.
đź’” At least 43 lives have been lost, including several children. Rescue crews are still searching for over two dozen missing people, including young campers from the popular Camp Mystic along the riverbanks.
Entire towns in the Hill Country—like Kerrville, Hunt, and Ingram—have been deeply affected. Families have been forced to evacuate, homes were swept away, and first responders continue heroic efforts by land, air, and water to locate survivors and provide aid.
Over 850 people have been rescued, including dramatic airlifts from treetops, rooftops, and raging waters. But for many, the nightmare isn’t over.
⚠️ Residents are urged to avoid flood-prone areas and low-water crossings, as the danger remains. Flash floods can rise within minutes, and even a small stream can turn deadly.
🙏 Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families impacted by this horrific flood, especially those still awaiting news on their loved ones. We honor the strength of the communities coming together to support each other during this time of sorrow.
📢 If you live near rivers or creeks, stay alert, listen to emergency warnings, and always prioritize safety. One moment can change everything.
Let’s keep these families in our hearts—and uplift the heroes on the ground doing everything they can to save lives.
