Tonight’s the night! The premiere of “America’s Stairway” at the Palace Theater in Lockpotr is sold out! This fantastic documentary by filmmaker and longtime friend and colleague Paul Lamont, produced by Bob Borgatti, lensed by Jack Cummings, edited by Chris Bové, and narrated by Liev Schreiber brilliantly tells the story of this historic local landmark. Propellerhead Media provided VO recording, sound design, and 5.1/2.0 mix. It will air on BTPM WNED PBS on Monday October 20 at 9pm. Here’s a :90 promo.

This article addresses two of my pet peeves, chiefly the new and growing trend by audio newbies of calling tracks "stems", and the unfortunate marketing of sound absorbing products to people who think they're buying "soundproofing". But it doesn't address what I find the most baffling and long-lived audio misnomers - calling a re-edit and reconstruction of a fully mixed song with other audio and calling it a "remix". This misnomer has been around for decades, but I've never heard anyone in the industry call it out.

The audio industry has its own words, in fact we’ve got as much jargon and acronyms as an episode of Line of Duty. Many of them matter, here are five we need to stop confusing… now.
