🎤 Meet the Band: Elton Hough
Say hello to Elton Hough, the rhythmic heartbeat of Buffalo Bound Music! With decades of drumming experience, Elton's beats keep us grooving.
Elton Hough hails from a musical family of five siblings all of whom play several instruments as well as his father who played blues guitar.
As a highly regarded piano teacher in local churches as well as part of the University of Buffalo music curriculum, it was primarily Elton's mother who strongly encouraged his further education as a drum major.
With a pre-requisite of sight reading skills, Elton enrolled at the Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts at age 10 where he remained till he graduated at age 17. During these years he studied with Greg Edwin (at the renowned Edwin Music on Broadway in Buffalo) as well as studio ace, Tony Miranda, Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra performer/percussionist. Elton's success as a student earned him the status of being selected for the All Western New York Jazz band at age 16 and an internship with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra.
Armed with a world class musical education and a desire to succeed, Elton traveled to Los Angeles to share drumming duties with his acquaintance, Ndugu Chancler (Santana) in a variety of church worship settings as well as in several R&B groups.
Elton currently enjoys a full time position as staff drummer at Greater Works Baptist located in Buffalo. Additional bands: Banjo Juice Jazz Band, Back Rock Zydeco, Brass Machine, Buffalo Bully Brass, The Healing Committee, Big Blue Wail, S.O.N., and The M.O.B.
During three brief festival tours with the Headers during the summer season of 2011, Elton displayed his skills and wowed audiences from New York, Pennsylvania and as far south as Daytona Beach. He continues to win over audiences with a rare combination of song sensitivity coupled with a relentless drive.
