Press Release - Injury Accident
Pendleton, NY - On Thursday, December 4th, 2025, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call reporting a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Mapleton and Townline Roads in the Town of Pendleton.
Initial investigation by responding Deputies at the scene revealed that a 2023 Ford F450 ambulance was east bound on Mapleton Road enroute to a call for service, when a 2024 Hyundai that was north bound on Wheatfield-Pendleton Townline Road failed to yield the right of way at the intersection. The Ford struck the Hyundai causing both vehicles to travel north-east across the intersection. The ambulance then struck a 16 year old male pedestrian that had been walking west bound on the north shoulder of Mapleton Road. Following the collision, both vehicles came to rest in ditch along the north edge of Mapleton Road. The forty-two year old male operator of the Hyundai was air lifted by Mercy Flight to ECMC for treatment of life threatening injuries. The sixteen year old male pedestrian was transported by ambulance to ECMC for non-life threatening injuries. The ambulance crew members consisted of the thirty-five year old female operator and twenty-seven year old male passenger. Both were evaluated at the scene and released.
The names of the parties involved are being withheld at this time pending notification to family. Investigation by the Niagara County Sheriff's Office Accident Investigation Unit into the incident is continuing.
