The last words my mom ever said to her best friend were, “Don’t forget to rejoice.”
But the only reason I know that is because when my dad died over 20 years later, I found a letter from my mom’s best friend to my dad that was dated a few days after her funeral. In it, he told my dad, “The last thing she ever said to me was ‘Don’t forget to rejoice!” In the desolation that I feel, I rejoice in this.”
But I would never have known that if my dad hadn’t saved that letter for decades…long enough for me to find it. And if her friend had never bothered to write it.
Think about it.
What kind of messages are your loved ones going to find amongst your most special things?
Send someone a card and tell them how they make you feel. Tell a story. Share that moment in a way that lasts.
Do that this holiday season. Don’t go buy some crap that ends up in a landfill. Do something that matters.
You can get these cards (and loads of other things that matter) on our website, at our boutique or at ‘s Holiday Bazaar 10-3 or from 3-6 tomorrow (Saturday 12/6).
