East Aurora’s Roycroft legacy is turning 50.

In our October issue, Sandy Starks sits down with Roycrofters At Large Association (RALA) president and Master Artisan Peter Potter to look at five decades of craftsmanship, the enduring influence of Elbert Hubbard, and the next generation of artists carrying the Roycroft tradition forward.

Starting October 9, Burchfield Penney Art Center will celebrate the milestone with an exhibition featuring work by current and former RALA artisans.

Hockey is back and Buffalo Sabres WAGs are putting a fresh spin on a very old tradition: wearing his jacket.

For the 2026 playoff run, several Sabres wives and girlfriends turned to Buffalo designer Tom Barnett New York for custom Goathead-inspired varsity jackets, complete with player names and numbers, sparkling silver trim, and 16-star sleeve patches.

Just off Delaware Avenue, Harmonic Egg Buffalo invites visitors to step inside an immersive chamber filled with sound, vibration, light, and color. For owner Amy van Osch, discovering sound therapy after her cancer diagnosis eventually led her to bring the Harmonic Egg to Western New York.

Now, she’s creating a space for others in our community to slow down, tune in, and take a break from the everyday.

There’s a nearly 200-year-old orchard hiding in East Aurora and it’s at the heart of The C***r Project, a small c***ry tucked inside Buffalo’s East Side.

Katie Campos and Erin Chapman have turned their love of c***r into something special, with apples from the historic orchard becoming a dry, funky beverage aged in oak for up to 22 months.

Teacher by day, Bandit by night.

John Tavares joined the Buffalo Bandits in their inaugural season in 1992 and went on to become one of the most decorated players in lacrosse. Now a three-time Hall of Famer, he’s entering another season as the team’s head coach.

For 30+ years, Tavares has made the trip from Mississauga to Buffalo. Along the way, he’s helped lead the Bandits to three straight NLL championships all while continuing to teach high school math back home.
