Appreciation post: shoutout to the heart of Studio A, our SSL 4040G console! So many songs have been recorded/mixed through this, so many artists have sat at this console with us, and so many sessions have benefited from having this workhorse as our main console. Installed in the fall of 2009 it has been the console that our engineers rely on each session to help in creating sweet sweet music. Today we salute you SSL 4040G 🫡. Here’s a fun one! Engineer Marc Warner Hunt was in recording piano last week and he decided to experiment with his mic’ing techniques and mic’d up our Yamaha C7 grand piano with an Atmos mix in mind. Can’t wait to hear this one!
