Sunnie’s best buddy, Nipper, turned 14 yesterday! I found her dumped on a desolate dirt road when she was about 4 weeks old, so we’re not sure exactly what day she was born, but we celebrate on my Mom’s birthday since it had to be around that same time. She was malnourished, covered in ticks, dehydrated, and left in the middle of coyote country in the 100* heat to fend for herself. I took her home, and Mom and Dad fell in love with her, and decided she was Dad’s pup now. A month later, she was at the neighbor’s, waiting for the school bus as she did every morning, when the big strong man across the road decided to shoot the little 8 week old puppy. She’s been through a lot. She suffers from anxiety, arthritis from being shot behind the shoulder, she’s mostly deaf now, and has cataracts. But, she’s still worth her weight in gold! She outlived her big sister (my dog Sissy), and her daughter (my Moon Pie), and despite it all, she’s made it to 14! She was the best Momma to Moon, and is very patient with Sunnie. The vet said she was a miracle, and I agree! So, happiest of birthdays, Nip-a-roonie!! We’re so glad God put you in my path that day 🎂 🐶
(The first photo is the day she took a bullet to the vital area, but it only nicked a rib, the second is from a few days ago).
