What’s the toxin?
These two pics were taken one week a part😳Crazy huh!! The pic on the left shows very obvious puffiness and inflammation. The pic on the right…yeah not so much.
I vividly remember taking the pic on the left and then looking at it. I was super upset by what I saw. Why did my face look so puffy? My clothes still fit. It wasn’t as if I had neglected some crazy weight gain. I workout regularly and eat well-ish😉. I was even 2 weeks alcohol free. WTF??
The pic on the right was after an 8 mile bike ride on the local trails. I remember really being pleased with the pic. Then I remembered the pic from the weekend before. So I had to do a side by side because it was almost unbelievable!!
So what is the toxin I had removed? ADDED SUGAR🎂🍭🍩🍦. FIVE DAYS OF NO ADDED SUGAR. For me that meant not grabbing a handful of dark chocolate chips after dinner. No “protein” balls from the coffee shop. No ice cream treat that week, etc..
Here is the thing, I consider myself to be a pretty clean eater! We eat 80% Whole Foods. Clean protein, organic produce, coupled with intermittent fasting. But if I was really honest with myself, my “moderation” wasn’t really moderation.
Now hear me out! I’m not coaching on nutrtion. My health coaching days are over. But I do want to continue showing you how I work to remove toxins from my world and the benefits I have experienced. My goal is to inspire you to Get REAL with yourself to create your best life!
Why did I decide to remove the sugar in the first place? Well, let me just list out some of the known health issues that sugar causes⬇️
🍭Creates chronic inflammation which can lead to heart disease, type 2 diabetes, certain CANCERS, and a variety of autoimmune conditions
🛎️🛎️Think fatigue, bloating, persistent aches and pains…sugar might be the cause
🍭Overloads the liver: fructose which is a form of sugar found in sugary drinks (EVEN “SUGAR FREE”) prepackaged snacks and FRUIT JUICE contribute to
🛎️🛎️non- alcoholic fatty liver disease, insulin resistance, and metabolic syndrome
🍭Disrupts hormones due to it spiking insulin levels and leads to
🛎️🛎️Fat gain, intense hunger and cravings, increased risked of insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes
Sugar also affects cortisol which can leave you both wired and tired at the same time
🍭Weakens your immune system…(is winter cold and flu season or is it sugar overload season🧐)
🍭Sugar is ADDICTIVE. There are studies that show it is more addictive than co***ne, with imaging showing the same receptors in the brain lighting up from sugar as with co***ne 😳
🍭Speeds the aging process by
🛎️🛎️Damaging collagen and elastin (think wrinkles and sagging skin), promotes oxidative stress (damaged mitochondria the “powerhouse” of our cells), and damages tissues
So yeah it’s bad s**t!!
Now I’m not telling you to get rid of sugar. I’m just showing you my personal experience that blew my socks off. Sometimes we all need to be real with ourselves and make a decision to make a change.
Removing toxins is a process. It truly is mind, body, spirit…and environment!
When you truly make a decision…no “TRY” only “DO”, things change. You can’t un-know once you know. And once you know, you have a responsibility to do better! As I say to my boys “Know better, do better”
