Temporary Burn Ban Notice
Effective immediately, the Bunker Hill Fire Protection District is issuing a temporary burn ban for all areas within our jurisdiction. BHFPD jurisdiction includes Station 1 (Bunker Hill Area) and Station 2 (Shipman Area). Including: City of Bunker Hill, Village of Woodburn, Village of Royal Lakes, Village of Shipman, Plainview, and the surrounding rural areas. This ban is necessary due to extreme fire danger conditions, ongoing drought, high winds, increased fire incidents, and is being implemented to protect lives, property, and natural resources.
Effective Date: October 2, 2025 · Expiration Date: Until Further Notice
Prohibited Activities:
· Open burning of any kind, including brush piles, leaves, trash, and yard waste
· Agricultural field burns
· Use of burn barrels
Permitted Activities:
· Outdoor cooking on gas or charcoal grills with appropriate safety precautions
Penalties:
Violations of this burn ban may result in fines, citations, or liability for suppression costs as allowed under IL state ordinance 70 ILCS 705/8.20.
