Randy Fine’s Contradictions on Free Speech and Cancel Culture

Politicians often claim to stand up for free speech, painting themselves as heroes fighting against the tide of “cancel culture.” Randy Fine, a vocal conservative, has repeatedly taken this stance, condemning what he sees as attacks on open debate. But his response to public comments about Charlie Kirk’s death reveals a stark contradiction in his principles.

A Clear Double Standard

Fine is quick to call out progressives for criticizing conservative figures, labeling it an attack on free speech and proof of a toxic, intolerant culture. Yet, when people expressed blunt or critical opinions about Charlie Kirk’s passing, Fine demanded they face consequences. In that moment, the self-proclaimed free speech champion flipped to advocating for punishment.

This isn’t principled. It’s selective outrage—picking and choosing when free speech matters based on who’s speaking.

Cancel Culture When It Suits Him

The hypocrisy is glaring: Fine doesn’t hate cancel culture itself, just when it targets his allies. When the criticism comes from his opponents, he’s all for consequences, de-platforming, and public shaming. That’s not defending freedom—it’s wielding power while cloaking it in righteous rhetoric.

The takeaway is clear: For Fine, free speech seems to matter only when it aligns with his own views.

Why This Hypocrisy Hurts

This matters because inconsistent standards erode trust in our public conversations. If Fine’s version of free speech boils down to “speech I agree with,” he’s not championing liberty—he’s manipulating the idea of freedom to favor his side while silencing others. That’s a problem for anyone who values fairness, no matter their politics.

The Bigger Picture

The right to free speech, as envisioned by America’s founders, wasn’t meant to protect just polite or popular opinions. It exists to shield the controversial and uncomfortable—exactly the kind of speech that sparks debate. If Fine wants to truly defend free speech, he can’t pick sides. He can’t demand punishment for critics while decrying challenges to conservatives.

Until Fine applies the same rules to everyone, friend or foe, he’s not a defender of free speech. He’s just practicing his own version of cancel culture, dressed up in conservative colors.

Randy Fine’s Toxic Legacy vs. Josh Weil’s Fresh Vision: Vote April 1

With Florida’s critical election days away on April 1, 2025, voters must weigh candidates’ character and competence.

Here’s why Randy Fine’s record raises red flags—and how Josh Weil offers a better path forward.

🚩 Randy Fine’s Unbecoming Behavior

1. Childish Social Media Antics
Fine repeatedly mocks critics online, including calling a constituent with disabilities “tiny brain” (Florida Today, 2024). Such insults undermine civil discourse and reflect poorly on governance.

2. Extreme Policy Decisions
• Backed book bans that temporarily removed The Diary of Anne Frank from Brevard schools before public backlash (WESH, 2023).
• Voted against Medicaid expansion, leaving 850,000 Floridians uninsured (Florida Policy Institute, 2024).

3. Ethics Scandals
Directed $6M in taxpayer funds to a nonprofit tied to donors, sparking ethics complaints (Orlando Sentinel, 2022).

🌟 Josh Weil: Competence Over Chaos
Proven Leadership

Weil’s 12 years as a school board member and small-business owner emphasize bipartisan problem-solving, not partisan theatrics.

Priorities That Matter
• Education: Full funding for schools and 15% teacher pay raises.
• Healthcare: Expand mental health services and cap insulin prices.
• Environment: Fast-track Everglades restoration to combat flooding.

Broad Support

Endorsed by the Florida Education Association, Miami Herald, and bipartisan mayors, Weil’s town halls draw crowds seeking solutions, not slogans.

🗳️ The Stakes on April 1
Fine’s immaturity and extremism ignore urgent challenges: unaffordable housing, rising insurance rates, and climate threats. Josh Weil’s 100-day plan tackles these issues with transparency and respect.

Vote Tuesday, April 1, 2025
Polls open 7 AM–7 PM.

He didn’t get fined, he got held in contempt of court.

Wow. The delusion of you living in a safe country is so bizarre to me.

The same people will say how it’s dangerous to travel to Colombia 😂

On September 6, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office Major Case Unit was contacted by the Daytona Beach Police Department Major Case Unit regarding an investigation into a former Flagler County Fire Rescue employee, James Melady, 37, of Daytona Beach. DBPD advised while investigating Melady on cases in their jurisdiction, a video was discovered of Melady molesting an unconscious female in Flagler County while on-duty and in uniform while performing his official duties.

FCSO Master Detective Darrell Butler was assigned the investigation and began working with DBPD to investigate the case. Through investigative means, MD Butler identified the victim as a former resident of Flagler Beach and learned that Flagler County Fire Rescue had been called to her residence on October 17, 2021. The incident occurred in the patient transport area of a Flagler County Fire Rescue ambulance while the victim was being transported to a hospital in Palm Coast.

FCSO Major Case Unit detectives met with DBPD detectives to review the video, which explicitly showed the suspect violating the victim while she was clearly unconscious. Detectives met with the victim, who was completely unaware of being attacked by Melady.

On September 11, MD Butler obtained an arrest warrant for Melady on one count of S*xual Battery on a Helpless Person and one count of Video Voyeurism on a Victim 19 Years Old or Older.

Major Case Unit detectives coordinated with the DBPD to locate and arrest Melady in their jurisdiction. Major Case Unit detectives also interviewed Melady, who confessed to his crimes and told detectives he retired from Flagler County Fire Rescue earlier this year. Melady was arrested on the warrant by DBPD and is being held in the Volusia County Jail under no bond.

“It’s unfathomable to me what this predator did to an unconscious victim while on duty while being entrusted to provide proper emergency medical care but instead s*xually assault her,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “I’m thankful we quickly got him off the street and in jail where he belongs. I also commend our Major Case Unit for their tireless effort to catch predators like this, and for working closely with our partners at the Daytona Beach Police Department to bring this pervert to justice. It is likely there are other victims of his disgusting behavior.”

If you believe you may have been a victim of Melady or have information on this case or other victims, call the FCSO Communications Center's non-emergency line at 386-313-4911 or email [email protected].

Flagler County Sheriff's Office I would advise you to make a full apology and retraction.

This issue where you lied to the public isn’t going away anytime soon.

It’s easily provable. You have no case.

You made clear and direct statements that were 100% false and all my financial records have now been disclosed.

Have a blessed day 🥰

Sad we have a Sherif boldly lie to the public.

It’s quite interesting being one of the only people in the world to know what he said was 100% false.

I’ve got all the evidence in the world to prove it lying Rick. G*y

Principles are more important than those of you who think I have some agenda.

I don’t have one except I think he’s a total scumbag for releasing an 11 year old’s name to the world.

Then he lies publicly.

I’m the wrong one. I don’t quit until I get issues like this resolved and I have plenty of other things going on in life much more important than lil Ricky.

This takes almost zero effort so enjoy and feel free to make your own pages.

I’m not letting this go.

Mentally, yes. A long time ago.

But I can still be emotionally detached and know wrong is wrong and he is the last person who should be blatantly lying to the public.

So suck it up snowflakes. I’ll post mugshots when I want to.

Let me know if there are any people charged with heinous crimes, s*x offenders etc because those are the public records I do want to post most.

The rest I’ll do when I want.

I’m still trying to find a law firm to hold Rick for straight up lying about this page and fabricating nonsense out of thin air.

The one firm considered it for a while and felt they were more of a boutique firm that doesn’t have the resources to go up against a popular Sheriff “in a state like Florida.”

On to the next one. I don’t understand it now that I think about it because he has no case.

I never did what he said we did.

Not once have I earned anything from a removal or anything else.

He is “aggressively pursuing” us because we trolled him heavy.

He got triggered and impulsively reacted thinking he was right without any evidence whatsoever and asking victims to call a number.

Again, Staly you’re full of it and a disgrace to law enforcement.

Whether you agree with what I post besides mugshots or not, the truth is the truth and he lied.

Have some backbone instead of blindly believing everything he says.

It’s like people are so disconnected and need to be on a “team” as part of their identity.

The idol worship is ridiculous.

He’s only human. He messed up. He could just man up and apologize realizing he was wrong.

A couple weeks I posted something that was inaccurate. The very same day I posted a long retraction, admitted I was wrong, and apologized.

That’s what a real man does Rick.
