Fun fact: Claire’s line “Your real life is in your dreams anyway” is a reference to Wanda’s line “Our real life is in our dreams…” from Fellini’s “The White Sheik.”

Director and founder of , Taron Lexton has always had a deep love for Italy, having spent time there growing up, and long dreamed of finding an excuse to film there. 🇮🇹

Over ten years ago, in 2014, when Nancy Cartwright sat down with Taron over coffee and shared her extraordinary true experiences pursuing Federico Fellini in her youth–which had inspired her screenplay–he was electrified.

Like most people, he had seen a few of Fellini’s films, but he seized this opportunity to watch every single one of them and began to discover the complex and fascinating world of Fellini himself, and saw how strikingly it intertwined with Nancy’s own story.

As the cast began to assemble, including the brilliant trio of Ksenia Solo , Maria Bello , and Mary Lynn Rajskub , each brought new layers of depth and richness to the film. The process was incredibly collaborative, and was an amazing evolution from Nancy’s original experience, to the screenplay, to the daily discoveries of filming in one of the most beautiful places on Earth.

The film grew steeped in authenticity and symbolism, a dreamscape of real Italian locations, true stories, fantasies, and Fellini’s own films and pathos. It is a love letter to Italy, an homage to Fellini, and an exploration of Nancy’s beautiful true story.

At its core, it’s simply a story about growing up, and about the thrilling and sometimes terrifying few inches between childhood and adulthood.

“How’s she going to take care of herself?” Lucy’s aunt and Claire’s no-nonsense sister, Kerri (Mary Lynn Rajskub ) wants to know. “Who would hire a 20 year-old who acts like a 13 year-old?”

Mary Lynn is a comedian, actress and writer, best known for playing “Chloe” on the Fox drama 24 and “Gail the Snail” from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Our Process: From concept to delivery, we led the full production… creative development, on-set ex*****on, and post. Collaborating closely with the client every step of the way.

The Details: Filmed in a single Tampa Bay location; keeping the budget lean and the production quality high. Shot on the ARRI ALEXA Mini LF with a variety of lenses to deliver dynamic pacing and gritty, human detail.

Ksenia Solo is Lucy, a sheltered, small-town Ohio girl, suddenly slammed by harsh reality. Desperate for answers, she discovers hope in the delightfully bizarre films of Federico Fellini, and sets off on a strange, beautiful journey across Italy to find him.

Rooted in authenticity and rich with symbolism, unfolds like a dream—woven from real Italian locations, true stories, imagined moments, and echoes of Fellini’s films and emotions. It’s a love letter to Italy, a tribute to Fellini, and a reflection of Nancy Cartwright’s beautiful true story. At its heart, it’s a coming-of-age tale about that exhilarating and sometimes daunting space between childhood and adulthood.

The character of Lucy is a reference to Gelsomina from Fellini’s “La Strada.” “Lucy” means “light” and that is one of the ethereal qualities that both Nancy and Fellini saw in their lead characters. Lucy also happens to be the name of Nancy’s real-life daughter who embodies similar ethereal qualities as Lucy/Gelsomina.

Congratulations to Ksenia for winning Best Actress at the Ferrara Film Festival in 2017 for this leading role. 🇮🇹
