BENTON CO., Wash. - A fire that destroyed an RV motor home and a house may have been started due to cooking, a Benton County Fire official said Thursday.

Deputies assisted WSP with a vehicle rollover collision on I-82 near milepost 99. The single female occupant of that vehicle was able to walk away from the rolled vehicle, however exhibited signs of impairment. WSP took over the investigation.

This is a stark reminder of the perils of driving under the influence. Please find an alternative to get home if you’ve been drinking. We want everyone to be safe this holiday season.

The lighted fire engine is back this year with planned stops for you to come by for pictures and to check out Engine 89 one of our original 1960 GMC fire engines from when the district was formed in 1960.
All stops are weather dependent, emergency responses take precedent and we utilize volunteer drivers throughout the season so cancellations may occur, efforts will be made to announce cancellations on social media.

Sneaker waves will be possible Thursday through Saturday. Keep an eye on the waves when venturing near the water, and make sure you have a quick and easy way to get away from unexpectedly large waves running up on the beach. Remember, never turn your back on the ocean!

18 Year Old Pullman Man Cited For Reckless Driving For Crashing Into Utility Pole, Mailboxes, Signs & Trash Can On Sunnyside Hill

November 26, 2025 Evan Ellis News

An 18 year old Pullman man was cited for reckless driving after he crashed into a power pole, signs, mailboxes and a trash can on Sunnyside Hill Tuesday night.

Pullman Police responded to the one vehicle accident at West Main Street and Old Wawawai Road around 11:00. Officers say Saeed Alsawaier was speeding at 60 MPH when he crashed. Alsawaier was evaluated for injuries at the scene by Pullman EMS personnel. Workers are at the crash scene today replacing the utility pole.

Deputies and regional fire department units responded to a residential structure fire off Jacobs Rd in rural Benton County. The sole occupant was able to evacuate.

Fire units are currently containing the fire. This is an on going investigation.
