A harmful algal bloom was found in the Snake River, not far from Clarkston. Whitman County Public Health tested a water sample near Nisqually John Landing on Monday. A press release says today (Thurs) the test results came back and indicated the water was positive for microcycstins, a type of liver toxin. At around 10 p.m. Sunday, officers from the Mattawa Police Department responded to a shooting near Hund Memorial Park, where officers located an individual with apparent gunshot wounds. The victim has been transported to a regional hospital, and the case is still under investigation.

North County fire units to the Piper Canyon Rd, area of Donnoly Rd, Walla Walla County for a combine on fire that has started the field on fire

Whitman County Sheriff's Office reports: 081625, 8:46 pm, WHITCOM took a report of a vehicle vs motorcycle collision just east of Albion on Pullman Albion Road.

Deputies arrived on scene and determined the vehicle had been driving eastbound and the motorcycle was going westbound on Pullman Albion Road. The motorcycle crossed the centerline in the curve of the roadway and made contact with the vehicle in the eastbound lane.

Albion EMS and Lifeflight were dispatched and attended to the injured motorcycle rider who was the only person injured in the collision.

The rider of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased on scene.

The Whitman County Coroner's Office is investigating the collision and the next of kin has been notified.

Collision is currently under investigation.
