About the Project: Good Trouble borrows its title from the incredible words of John Lewis and explores the youth activism that is spurring significant social and political change in our country. Using a combination of interviews with local community organizers, and material drawn from existing media sources, the script explores prominent social and protest movements of the last few years. An audio recording of that script will fuse verbatim dialogue with original music, poetry, and audience direction that allow participants to ‘stage a protest’ using theatre as a medium of expression and communal experience. Though there will be no live performers, physical events will be held in public, outdoor spaces in partnership with other local organizations so that audiences may embody protest and civil disobedience while listening to the next generation of community leaders and organizers.
A stipend of $200 will be provided to each performer. Although this will be considered a non-union production, this contract falls outside the jurisdiction of Actors’ Equity because there are no live performances. Because Blindspot Collective prioritizes equity, anyone interested is welcome to review the full budget of this production for the purposes of transparency.
To Submit: To ensure safety for all involved, no physical auditions will be held. Instead we ask that you email [email protected] with the following information:
● Headshot – A headshot is simply a natural photo of yourself. If you don’t have a formal headshot, please send us a recent, professional selfie of yourself
● Resume – Your resume should outline any previous experience you have performing. If you do not have an updated resume, please write one, short paragraph describing why you are interested in this opportunity
