Victor Prezio (1924-1976) was a very prolific pulp artist best known for his work illustrating Men’s Adventure Magazines. Prezio was a very versatile artist, with covers for Famous Monsters of Filmland that rival even Basil Gogos. Enjoy.

Starting the week strong with some Samson Pollen (1931-2018). He started his career in the 1950s, illustrating pulp paperback covers. But it was for the Men’s Adventure Magazines that his career really flourished. His evocative style with dutch angles and almost painting in a forced perspective gives a real sense of action, and a 3-D feel to his art. After Men’s Mags declined in popularity and gravitated towards photographs rather than illustrations, Pollen returned to painting paperbacks, which he did until the 1990s. Bob Deis () and Wyatt Doyle have a few books featuring his art, Pollen’s Women and Pollen’s Action — check 'em out! menspulpmags.com

Happy Friday, everyone. I never knew Mickey Mantle was a spokesman for Natty Light. "If I knew I was going to live this long, I'd have taken better care of myself." - Mickey Mantle. Legend.

Some more reference photos. The first one is the artist Bernie Safran. He often posed for his own reference photos, probably because it was easier than hiring a model. The other two seem to be photographs that the other artists just used as a reference point (or even manipulated like an early form of Photoshop). I don't know the artists for those, but the woman in the doorway is Elke Sommer, and the one singing is Abbe Lane.
