Huizache Huizache: Prose, poetry, and art from a New America Huizache: The "E" isn't silent. Neither are we.

Huizache, the Magazine of Latino Literature, is produced by CentroVictoria, the Center for Mexican American Literature and Culture housed at the University of Houston, Victoria. Founded in 2011 by Dagoberto Gilb, Huizache publishes prose and poetry not just from the Latino world (though much is), not just from the American West (though much is), but from a new American country.

Huizache reading & launch party! Join us and Burbank Public Library on Sunday, November 16 (2:00 - 4:00pm) for an afternoon of literature in community as we celebrate the launch of our 12th issue with a dynamic lineup of authors, including Vickie Vértiz, Raul Meza, Sesshu Foster, and Caribbean Fragoza.

Whether you’ve been reading Huizache from the start or are just discovering it, this is an opportunity to connect with a publication that has featured trailblazing voices, from Helena María Viramontes to Juan Felipe Herrera, and continues to uplift the writers shaping what’s next.
