🎥 The Goonies – The Walsh House Porch

Just after Troy’s dad stops by to pressure the Walsh family into signing away their home, the kids head back inside. Outside on the porch, Mikey (Sean Astin) is feeling down when Brandon (Josh Brolin) comes out to comfort him.

This iconic porch has been recreated to look just like it did in The Goonies, thanks to the home’s new owner. It’s amazing to see this legendary filming location brought back to life!

Be sure to check out Goonies House 🏴‍☠️ for more information and updates about the Walsh House.

🎬 BACK TO THE FUTURE

During a special tour with From the Future Events, a couple of actors put on a fun recreation of the classic Back to the Future scene where Doc and Marty talk about Marty interacting with people in 1955—and the consequences of meeting his parents as his brother begins disappearing from the family photo!

The actors also had a little fun with the audience along the way!

This took place at the beautiful Gamble House in Pasadena, the actual filming location used as Doc Brown’s 1955 home in Back to the Future.

This performance was filmed on the back patio and was not intended to recreate the movie scene exactly or be screen accurate. It was simply a fun recreation created for the fans attending the tour and for entertainment purposes!

🎥 THRASHIN’ (1986) — Opening Sequence Filming Locations

This is the opening sequence where Corey Webster (Josh Brolin) leaves the house and skates toward the beach.

I tracked down several locations from his journey through Playa del Rey, including Mar Vista, Culver Boulevard, the Mustache Bridge, the Ballona Creek Bike Path, and the area around Speedway before Corey grabs onto the motorcycle and heads toward Pacific Avenue.

There were a couple of scenes I left out because they were a little more difficult to find—including the house Corey skates out of—but I’m still working on it!

Movie magic definitely makes this skate route look a lot more continuous than it actually is!

🎥 Back to the Future (1985)

Just after Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) arrives at the mall and discovers Einstein outside, he asks, “Hey, where’s Doc?” Moments later, the van begins to open and the DeLorean rolls out, setting the stage for one of the most unforgettable moments in movie history.

This scene was filmed at Puente Hills Mall in the City of Industry, and I was lucky enough to capture my recreation in the rain! The wet pavement gave this shot a look very similar to how the location appeared in the movie.

It is always amazing when the weather helps bring a filming location recreation even closer to the original scene!

🎥 Lethal Weapon 3

This Then & Now shot takes us back to the scene after Riggs and Murtaugh stop at Fast Eddie’s to grab some food. While eating, Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson) notices something suspicious happening around the corner and goes to investigate—only to stumble upon a drug deal in progress.

Riggs attempts to stop the suspects and make an arrest, but the situation quickly erupts into gunfire. During the chaos, one of the gunmen is killed while firing from inside the shed seen in this scene. The tragedy becomes even more personal when they discover the gunman was Darrell, a friend of Roger Murtaugh’s (Danny Glover) son.

This scene was filmed at the old train station in North Hollywood. The station itself is still there, but the train tracks seen in the movie were removed and replaced with concrete. Today, the area serves as a bus station for the dedicated bus line that connects passengers to the North Hollywood subway station.

🎥 THRASHIN’ (1986)

40 years ago, Thrashin’ hit theaters and brought skateboarding culture to the big screen! 🛹

This Then & Now takes us back to the opening sequence of the film. As Corey Webster (Josh Brolin) leaves his home and skates toward the beach to meet up with his friends, he passes these buildings at the corner of Culver Boulevard and Vista Del Mar.

When the opening credits appear, the title THRASHIN’ is shown right here on the screen. Those words were part of the actual movie title sequence—not something added to the photo.

🎬 BEVERLY HILLS COP (1984)

“This is Nice!”

Now & Then from Beverly Hills Cop, starring Eddie Murphy as Detroit Detective Axel Foley!

This is the scene where Axel is brought into the Beverly Hills Police Department after being arrested for crashing through the window at Victor Maitland’s office. As they walk him inside, Axel can’t help but admire his surroundings.

You can see that a few things have changed over the years, including the landscaping and stairways, but the iconic building itself remains instantly recognizable.

And here’s the interesting part—this isn’t actually the Beverly Hills Police Department! The building you’re looking at is Beverly Hills City Hall, which was used as the police headquarters in the movie. The real Beverly Hills Police Department is located right nearby within the same Civic Center complex.

🎥 TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS (1990)

Now & Then from one of the most memorable scenes in Taking Care of Business, starring Jim Belushi as Jimmy Dworski and Charles Grodin as Spencer Barnes! ⚾️

Jimmy, a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan, wins tickets to see the Cubs play the California Angels in the World Series. After escaping prison and getting caught up in Spencer’s life, the two unlikely friends eventually make it to the big game together.

During the game, Jimmy finds himself in the outfield seats when a home run comes his way—and he makes the catch!

Although there are a few changes to the railings today, this spot still looks remarkably similar to how it appeared in the movie more than 35 years ago.

And unlike what some people might think, this wasn’t Wrigley Field standing in for the Cubs. The game was supposed to take place in Anaheim, and it was filmed right here at Angel Stadium!

🎥 E.T. Extraterrestrial

Elliott (Henry Thomas) and Michael (Robert MacNaughton) head to the bus stop on their way to school, where the other kids immediately start giving Elliott a hard time — asking him if he brought his “goblin” and teasing him about E.T. 👽

This scene was filmed in the same Northridge neighborhood used for many of the movie’s exterior scenes. The location is roughly 20 miles from the Elliott family home exterior on Lonzo Street.
