Hi friends!!!
Just a little hello to update everyone and reintroduce ourselves to our new followers.
Hi, my name is Francene. Myself and my daughter, Katey, run Queens of the Coop together. Katey not only is my sweet daughter, but my best friend and I couldn’t possibly be more proud to be her mother. I also have to mention my amazing husband Randy and sister-in-law Crystal. They both help keep farm chores manageable and help keep me sane! Randy helps with early morning watering when he’s in town, and Crystal comes over at least once a week and gives me a helping hand in caring for the chickens because I can’t do all that is necessary with my back. I couldn’t do it all without Katey, Randy, and Crystal!!! I’m forever thankful!

We have been raising chickens for approximately 5-6 years now. We have tried almost every different breed possible, but ended up landing on Silkies & Satins and Puerto Rican Kikirikis. We have found their size and temperament work best for us. We live in city limits with a decent sized backyard, that I have turned into my oasis from the world. We joke that if we had more land, I would probably go crazy and would get all the farm animals possible. But, unfortunately with my extremely bad back and medical issues, and with my husband constantly on the road for work, our “backyard farm” works best for us. My family & my animals are my entire world. My husband, Randy, and I have been together since highschool, almost 30 years together now. I’m mom to Katey, plus our sweet “monster” dog Wrigley, 3 cats, Gracey, Autumn, and Luna, and too many chickens to count!! Outside of our chickens, our other interests are of course family time whenever possible, thrifting/antiquing, sewing, stained glass making, gardening, and basically any other crafting that you can think of. We are in the process of making a huge craft room for Katey and myself to use because we currently take over the whole house with our projects. 😊

I am so thankful we are finally in the “ber” months….(September, October, November, and December…). As usual, the Texas heat over the summer was brutal. We had to take a little hiatus from shipping, but we are finally back in our shipping months. Yay!!
But, because of the summer heat, there have been some changes to our pens. Our white breeders took a huge hit this year and we are down to only one pen now in white. And unfortunately we aren’t currently breeding blacks. We lost a few black hens to the heat and the remaining are old and no longer are laying unfortunately. Our current breeding pens we offer eggs from are:

Please remember although we ARE back to shipping again starting just this week, we need to first catch up with existing orders. Our hens are still recovering and recouping from the hot months so their laying production is still slow right now. They should pick up again soon! If we owe you eggs, please be patient. We will reach out to you as we have eggs ready for you. If you haven’t heard from us by the beginning of October, please kindly reach out. I hope to have all backed up orders out by or before the beginning of October, as our chickens pick up egg production again.

Please also check out our large fundraising waffle. All proceeds go to help home repairs as we have been dealing with some roof damage and all that goes along with it. This is our largest fundraiser, with the w-I-n-n-e-r to get their pick of an existing beautiful stained glass silkies, or one made with their choice of custom colors. There are multiple w-I-n-n-e-r-s as shown on the waffle. We only have 38 spots remaining to fill it up until we draw! You don’t want to miss out!!!

Hi friends, the weather played a little trick on us and gave us one more week of 99+ temps so we will be waiting one more week to ship. Pray with us that after this week we will see lower temps that allow for us to pick back up shipping eggs please.

We are trying to get organized and get with everyone we owe eggs to. If we have spoken and you are awaiting the lower temps for eggs or eggs reshipment, please send us a message as we are having problems accessing past messages and don’t want to miss anyone accidentally.

We are also working on our silkie stained glass piece that is our original design! Don’t forget to get into our fundraiser waffle for your chance to w~I~n. We will be posting pics soon and we will re-share the waffle for those interested.
