đ TWIN 5-YEAR-OLDS DROWN IN RENTAL HOUSE POOL WHILE ON VACATION
Two 5-year-old twin sisters died Friday after they were found unresponsive in the swimming pool of a vacation rental home in Kissimmee, Florida, according to the Osceola County Sheriffâs Office.
Authorities said the family, who had traveled from the Atlanta area for a vacation, had arrived at the short-term rental home only hours before the tragedy occurred. Deputies and emergency responders were called to the property around 11 a.m. after the girls were discovered unconscious in the pool.
They were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they were later pronounced dead.
Investigators said a 15-year-old family member had been left in charge of watching the children while their parents went to a grocery store. Officials have not released details about how long the girls were unsupervised or how they gained access to the pool.
Neighbor Gerald Dupont told WESH he heard a woman screaming for help moments after the incident.
âThe ladyâs screaming, âOh, no, theyâre not breathing.â Whoever it was ⌠she was really upset, and I feel sorry for her. My heart breaks over something like that. I wouldnât know what would happen if it was one of mine,â Dupont said.
Osceola County Sheriffâs Office spokesperson Kim Montes described the deaths as a devastating tragedy.
The girls were identified as Paisley and Parker. A GoFundMe says they were inseparable, playful, loving, and endlessly curious, with infectious smiles that lit up every room they walked into.
âTo know Paisley and Parker was to love them.â
The circumstances surrounding the drowning remain under investigation, and authorities have not announced whether any charges are being considered. Officials are continuing to gather evidence and determine exactly how the incident occurred.
