Great opportunity for Sean to learn more about the business of sports reporting. Thanks Noah and NBC!!

Digital Media Lab student, Sean Fialko Casey, recently visited My NBC5 to meet their sports anchor, Noah Cierzan. Sean currently focuses on sports in his DML class and posts highlights, recaps, hot takes, and general sports news on social media. He hopes to continue this work after graduating, with a goal of working at ESPN someday.

During the visit to NBC/WPTZ they did a full studio tour and learned about everything that happens in a typical day. Noah Cierzan shared about his process in deciding what to report on and how to tell the story as he recaps local sports news. During the tour they visited the control room to see all the behind the scenes work that goes into the live show, and even got to watch the 5pm news happen in real time. Sean’s highlight from the tour was watching Noah’s process of creating and editing videos, which he looks forward to applying to his own video making.

Thanks to Noah Cierzan for his time, and to NBC/WPTZ for always being excited to host our students!

Attend BTC student visit day on Thursday, January 25.

If you currently attend Colchester, CVU, MMU, BFA, South Burlington, Essex, Milton, Winooski, or Rice, you will attend in the morning (9:35 - 11:45) and will have the opportunity to check out two programs. For example, Digital Media Lab, and . It's a pretty great pairing. You'll get to see the spaces, meet me, and find out more about the program. If you currently attend BHS, you'll attend in the afternoon (12:10-2.20) to check out two programs.

Happy to announce my YR2 student…Apolina has been selected as one of the 2023 VT Presidential Scholars in the Arts!!! She is a talented photographer and her work has focused on her community in Winooski and her faith. Burlington Technical Center

Great to read this review of a BTC DML student who used the time and resources to create a body of work that receives the attention of the most important entertainment/culture publication in the state! Super job Caleb…you have clearly demonstrated what is possible…I hope others will be inspired to do the same with filmmaking, photography, audio production, podcasting, VFX and more. DML is happy to formally announce the addition of Terri Ambo (aka Topia). He will be assisting DML's Audio Production through a generous grant from VT Arts Council's Artists in the Classroom for Spring 2023!!! Terri will co-support the class with another producer (announcement to follow) for several weeks during this semester.

If you are a 10th or 11th grader in VT interested in applying to Digital Media Lab (DML)...find out more about the program, see the spaces, and ask me any and all of the questions this upcoming Tuesday!!

There will be THREE one hour long sessions (5-6, 6-7, and
7-8). The first 10-15 minutes will be me talking about the program, and student opportunities. The remainder of the time will be to see the spaces and ask me questions.
