One more warm and pleasant day today before more typical January weather returns. Tomorrow looks rainy, followed by some light rain/snow Friday evening. Confidence remains low for now in the exact details, but regardless most places will see around or below an inch of accumulating snow - with the best chances across north-central Kansas.

“Rebounding is an attitude, a state of mind, a relentless pursuit of the ball.” - Dennis Rodman

“Rebounding is a mindset. It’s a desire to go get the ball, to be aggressive.” - Kevin Love

“Rebounding is about heart and desire. You have to want it more than anyone else.” - Shaq

Let me tell you about Hattie Burgio, all 5’7” of her! She is a monster on the boards! She plays with the heart of a lion and simply put, she wants that ball more than anyone else. You couldn’t ask for a more coachable kid and leads with a servant heart. Congratulations on hitting this milestone. Now let’s go add a couple hundred more to that tally!

Let me tell you about these two: Bret Franks, left, is the rodeo coach at Clarendon College, and Weston Patterson is one of his protégés. They won the NIRA men’s team championship together in 2021, a team that included Cole Fanks, Brody Wells, Cash Wilson, Keene Justesen and Dawson Gleaves.

Bret is a three-time NFR bronc rider who has coached four national-title teams: Two at Clarendon and two at his alma mater, Oklahoma Panhandle State University. He has also mentored some of the greats, including individual national champions Wyatt Casper, Riggin Smith, Cole Franks, Weston Timberman and Wacey Schalla, the latter of whom finished a fantastic sophomore year as the reserve all-around champion. This year’s finale also featured ba****ck rider Sam Petersen, who won the NFR average.

Greatness happens because of coaches like Bret Franks. Mentorship is a valuable too.

This week’s award to none other than birthday girl Johanna Carrasco. Dominant at the Conner-Oppenheim Open, 4-0 day, all falls, and won gold at 180 lbs. Improved her record to 10-6 on the year. She also has 6 falls on the year and is 8th place currently in All-Time Falls in BUWW history.

A very consistent hard worker every day in the room, and definitely one of the team leaders and role model to all. We love our Jo 🖤🧡
