The National Weather Service has issued multiple flood and flash flood warnings across Eastern Iowa due to repeated heavy rainfall and saturated ground conditions. Flooding is ongoing or developing quickly in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

Currently affected areas include: Cedar, Clinton, Davis, Des Moines, Henry, Iowa, Jefferson, Johnson, Jones, Keokuk, Linn, Louisa, Muscatine, Scott, Washington, and Wapello counties.

Impact areas include: Iowa City, Coralville, Cedar Rapids, Marion, Iowa City, Coralville, Tipton, West Branch, Marengo, Williamsburg, Iowa City, Coralville, Anamosa, Monticello, Sigourney, What Cheer, Cedar Rapids, Marion, Wapello, Columbus Junction, Muscatine, Fruitland, Washington, Kalona, Tipton, West Branch, DeWitt, Wheatland, Muscatine, Fruitland, Davenport, and Bettendorf.

Multiple rounds of heavy rain are producing rapid runoff, leading to Flash flooding in creeks, streams, and low-water crossings. Water over roadways in rural and urban areas. Rapid rises in smaller drainage systems. Continued flooding risk where storms repeatedly move over the same locations.

Avoid driving through flooded roads. Even shallow water can sweep vehicles away or hide washed-out pavement. Stay connected to official National Weather Service alerts and local emergency communications. Turn Around, Don’t Drown.
