MULLEIN TEA RECIPE
Ingredients:
•1–2 teaspoons dried mullein leaves or flowers
•1 cup hot water
Optional: honey or lemon for taste

Directions:
1. Put the dried mullein in a mug or tea infuser.
2. Pour hot water over it.
3. Steep for 10–15 minutes.
4. Strain very well through a fine mesh strainer, cheesecloth or coffee filter first — mullein’s tiny hairs can irritate the throat.

Notes:
-Drink it warm.
-Start with a small amount if you’ve never used it before.
*If you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking medications, check with a clinician first.

MULLEIN a tall plant with:
soft, fuzzy gray-green leaves
a thick upright flowering stalk with
small yellow flowers, a distinctive “velvety” feel.
It grows in sunny, disturbed areas like fields, roadsides, and open lots.

Common uses
Mullein has been used traditionally for several purposes, especially in herbal medicine:
1. Respiratory support
This is the most famous use. People use mullein for:
coughs
sore throat
congestion
bronchial irritation
It’s often made into:
tea
tinctures
herbal smoking blends
steam inhalations
2. Soothing irritation
The plant has demulcent properties, meaning it may help coat and soothe irritated tissues, especially in:
throat
lungs
digestive tract
3. Ear oil
Mullein flower oil is sometimes used in folk medicine for:
ear discomfort
mild ear irritation
Important: ear pain can have many causes, and oils shouldn’t be used if there’s a ruptured eardrum or infection concerns.
4. Topical use
Poultices or extracts from mullein have also been used on:
minor skin irritation
inflamed areas

Traditional medicine notes
Mullein has a long history in folk remedies across Europe, Asia, and North America. It’s not a cure-all, but it has been valued for its calming, soothing reputation.

Safety notes
A few important cautions:
The tiny plant hairs can irritate the throat if tea is not filtered well.
Avoid using it without medical guidance if you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking medication regularly.
If you have asthma, severe cough, fever, chest pain, or trouble breathing, get checked by a clinician rather than relying on herbs.

Quick identification tip
Mullein is typically a biennial, meaning it usually lives for two years.
Usual life cycle
Year 1: It grows a low rosette of soft, fuzzy leaves near the ground.
Year 2: It sends up the tall flowering stalk, blooms, produces seeds, and then usually dies.

*IMPORTANT INFO. WHEN HARVESTING:
All plants pull up substances from the soil in some way.
However, it varies greatly in how much, which toxins, how they take them in and how they store them. The thing with mullein is it's very good at pulling up these toxins and then storing them. The toxins are passed on to us if we use contaminated plants. The key is to know the area in which you plan to harvest from and avoid areas with contaminated soil. If you are unsure if the plant/plants have been in contact with toxins/herbicides, it’s best to leave it be.

Roots & Willow Relaxation Blend

Ingredients
* 4 cups water
* 2 tablespoons fresh ginger, sliced
* 2 chamomile tea bags
* 2 tablespoons honey
* 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
* 2 lemon slices for garnish
* Fresh mint leaves (optional)

Instructions
Step 1: Heat the Water
Pour the water into a medium saucepan and bring it to a gentle boil over medium-high heat.

Step 2: Add the Ginger
Add the sliced ginger and reduce the heat to low.
Simmer for 10 minutes to allow the ginger flavor to infuse into the water.

Step 3: Steep the Tea
Remove the saucepan from the heat. Add the chamomile tea bags and steep for 5 minutes.

Step 4: Sweeten the Tea
Remove the tea bags and stir in the honey until fully dissolved.

Step 5: Add Lemon
Mix in the fresh lemon juice and stir gently.

Step 6: Serve
Pour the tea into mugs and garnish with lemon slices and mint leaves if desired.

Tips for Success
* Use fresh ginger for the best flavor.

Lemon Balm is a gentle, easy-to-grow herb that belongs in every garden and homestead. It smells like lemon, attracts bees, comes back strong, and has long been used as food, tea, and natural support for the body.
Traditionally, Lemon Balm has been valued for helping with stress, anxiety, restlessness, sleep, and nervous tension. It is also known as a digestive herb, often used for gas, bloating, cramping, nausea, and nervous stomach. Some studies suggest it may also support mood, calm focus, and memory.
Lemon Balm is especially well known for its use in teas, tinctures, infused honey, salves, and culinary dishes. Its leaves have a fresh lemon flavor and can be used in salads, drinks, sauces, desserts, and herbal preparations.
It is also a great pollinator plant, feeding bees when it flowers. Harvest the leaves before flowering for the best flavor, and dry them quickly in a cool, shaded place to preserve their aroma.
Lemon Balm is a beautiful example of a plant that is both useful and restorative—good for the garden, the kitchen, the apothecary, and the home.

LAVENDER infused oil is more than a beauty product—it’s a gentle plant-based remedy. When dried lavender buds steep in a carrier oil, their calming compounds blend into a skin-safe infusion that can be used on wrists, feet, or hair ends. Unlike essential oil, it’s milder and less likely to irritate the skin.
The best results come from patience: use completely dry flowers, a carrier oil (Jojoba, Olive oil, etc…), keep the oil below 120°F, and let it infuse slowly for two to four weeks, shaking it occasionally. Store it in a dark glass jar away from heat, and it can last six months to a year.
In the end, you only need flowers, oil, and time to make something soothing, useful, and beautifully simple

BERBERINE-
is a natural compound found in several plants, including:
•barberry
•goldenseal
•Oregon grape
•tree turmeric

It’s been studied for possible effects on:
•blood sugar
•cholesterol
•gut health
•inflammation

People often take it as a supplement, but it can interact with medications and may cause side effects like stomach upset. It’s not a magic potion—more like a plant compound with some real research behind it, but also some caution flags.

Research studies and trials show that using Berberine for weight loss can lead to:
•small reductions in body weight
•slight decreases in BMI and waist circumference
•sometimes improvements in blood sugar and cholesterol, which may help indirectly with weight management

*The average weight loss seen in studies is generally not large
Results vary a lot depending on:
•dose
•length of use
•whether people also changed diet/exercise

It’s not a substitute for lifestyle changes, and it’s definitely not a “drop 20 pounds while watching TV” kind of supplement. Sadly, science remains stubborn.

Safety notes
Berberine can cause:
•stomach upset
•constipation or diarrhea
•nausea
It can also interact with medications, especially for:
•diabetes
•blood pressure
•blood thinners
•some antibiotics and other drugs

Bottom line
Berberine may help a little with weight loss, but the effect is usually small. It’s more promising as a metabolic support supplement than as a standalone weight-loss solution.
For the research-backed angle, the evidence comes from systematic reviews/meta-analyses of randomized trials showing modest improvements in weight-related measures.
