Parent and Community Invitation: Burnsville Elementary Leadership and Enrollment Discussion

Dear Burnsville Elementary Families,

I want to share an update regarding school leadership at Burnsville Elementary. Principal Dr. Wine is currently on a medical leave of absence and will not be returning to the school. We appreciate Dr. Wine’s service to the Burnsville Elementary community and wish her well.

Please know that I am in the process of identifying the next leader who will continue the great work being done for our students. During this transition, you may see some new faces in the building as we assign experienced staff and district administrators to help support daily operations and ensure a smooth continuation of all school activities.

As we continue our ongoing efforts to strengthen Burnsville Elementary, I would like to personally invite you to a follow-up community meeting to share important updates and next steps. During this meeting, I will review the results from the recent parent and community survey and gather additional feedback as we plan for the future of the school.

Meeting Details:

Date: Thursday, December 18, 2025
Time: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Location: Burnsville Community Building (same location as the previous meeting)

Your input remains vital as we work together to ensure that Burnsville Elementary continues to provide a safe, caring, and engaging learning environment for every student.

Thank you for your continued support of Burnsville Elementary and its dedicated staff. I look forward to seeing you there and hearing your thoughts.

Sincerely, Dr. Donna Burge-Tetrick Superintendent, Braxton County Schools

Parent and Community Invitation: Burnsville Elementary Enrollment Discussion

Burnsville Elementary has seen a significant drop in enrollment this school year. We began with a projected enrollment of 99 students, but as of October 1, that number dropped to 87 and today we have just 61 students enrolled.

As Superintendent of Braxton County Schools, I want to hear directly from our parents, families, and community members about your concerns and ideas for solutions. Your input is vital to understanding why enrollment has declined and how we can work together to strengthen Burnsville Elementary for the future.

Please join me for an open community meeting on Thursday, December 4th, at the Burnsville Community Building. Stop by anytime between 4:30 PM and 6:30 PM to share your thoughts.

You’ll also have an opportunity to complete an anonymous survey designed to help us gather honest feedback and ideas for improvement.

Your voice matters!
