It's Christmas Eve and I'm sitting here with my coffee, planning content for 2026.

Not gonna lie—pivoting my business to focus on dog groomers, trainers, and walkers feels a little scary. But also SO right.

Because every time I talk to a dog business owner, I hear the same thing:

"I'm great at what I do, but I have NO IDEA how to market myself."

"I post on Instagram constantly, but my calendar is still empty."

"I don't show up on Google, and I don't know how to fix it."

That's what I'm here to solve.

Simple, actionable marketing strategies for local dog businesses. No BS. No overwhelm. Just what actually WORKS.

If you're a dog groomer, trainer, walker, or daycare owner who's tired of feeling invisible online... I'm building this for YOU.

Let's make 2026 the year your phone actually rings.

Happy holidays 🎄🐾

Everyone wants to know: "Which platform should I focus on?"

So I looked at the data from dog walking businesses I've worked with. Here's what actually generates leads:

🥇 #1: Local Facebook Groups (45% of leads)
Not your business page. Not ads. Literally just being helpful in local groups.

🥈 #2: Google Business Profile (30% of leads)
When people search "dog walker near me," this is what pops up. Optimize it.

🥉 #3: Instagram (15% of leads)
Works, but mostly for referrals and word-of-mouth amplification.

📉 Everything Else (10%)
TikTok, LinkedIn, Twitter—nice to have, not need to have.

The takeaway? If you're only going to focus on TWO things:
1. Be active and helpful in local Facebook groups
2. Keep your Google Business Profile updated with photos and reviews

Everything else is extra credit.

Stop spreading yourself thin trying to be everywhere. Go deep on what actually brings in clients.

Most dog walkers post cute dog pics and wonder why they're not getting booked.

Here's the thing: cute content gets likes.

✨STRATEGIC content gets clients.✨

The 5 post types that actually convert:

1. Before/After Transformation
Not just "cute dog" but "Anxious rescue → Confident walker in 2 weeks"

2. Problem You Solve
"Does your dog pull on the leash? Here's what I do differently..."

3. Social Proof
Client testimonial, screenshot of a 5-star review, happy dog owner quote

4. Behind-the-Scenes
Your process, your gear, how you handle multiple dogs safely

5. Local Connection
"Best dog-friendly spots in [Your City]" — shows you're LOCAL and you GET your area

Notice what's NOT on this list? Random cute dog content with no context.

Your content should make people think: "This person gets it. This person can help MY dog."

✨ Quick action: This week, post at least ONE of these 5 types. Watch your DMs. ✨

You Don't Need a $300/Month Scheduling Tool (Use This Instead)

Dog business owners love asking me: "What scheduling tool should I use?"

And they're expecting me to recommend some expensive all-in-one platform.

Plot twist: You probably don't need it yet.

Here's a free app (this post is not sponsored):

✨ Metricool ✨

On the free plan, you get up to 50 post per month.

Batch your content: Write 4 posts on Sunday, schedule for the week

"But what about Buffer or Hootsuite?"

Cool tools. But if you're just getting started and posting 3x/week, you don't need to drop $15-30/month yet.

Get consistent with the free tools first. THEN upgrade when you're posting daily and managing multiple clients.

Save your money for better things (like actually running ads that get you clients).

❤️ Pro tip: Set a 2-hour block every Sunday. Plan, write, and schedule your week. Done.

🐶 How I Found Choco's Mobile Groomer (And What It Taught Me About Social Media)
I work in social media marketing, so you'd think I'd find Choco's groomer on Instagram, right?

Nope. I Googled "mobile groomer near me."

Here's my exact customer journey (and what it taught me about how dog owners ACTUALLY find services):

✅ Step 1: Google Search I typed "mobile groomer near me" and immediately started filtering by:
• Reviews (do people trust this person with their dogs?)
• Photos (do the dogs look good? Is this person legit?)
• Pricing info (even a ballpark range so I know if I should bother reaching out)

✅ Step 2: Social Media Stalking Once I found a few options, I checked their Instagram.
But not for cute content—I was looking for:
• Are they actively posting? (Last post from 2022? Pass.)
• Do the dogs look happy and well-groomed?
• Do they show their process, their setup, the before/afters?

I wasn't looking for viral reels. I was looking for PROOF that they know what they're doing.

✅ Step 3: The Website (This is Make-or-Break) I went to their website to find:
• Clear pricing (I need to know if this is even in my budget)
• Easy booking (if I have to email back-and-forth just to get an appointment, I might give up)
• Service details (what's included? How long does it take?)

What Made Me Book: The groomer I chose had clear pricing, recent social media posts showing actual client dogs, and easy online booking.

Done. Booked.

✨ The Lesson:

Your ideal clients START on Google, not Instagram.

They use social media to VET you—to see if you're legit, active, and trustworthy.

But if your Google Business Profile is outdated, your website has no pricing, or booking you is a hassle? They're moving on to the next groomer.

👉 Quick action: This week, Google "[your service] near me" and see what shows up. Is it YOU? Is your info current? Are your reviews recent? Is booking you easy?

That's the starting point for most of your clients.

This is Choco, and he's the reason I'm so passionate about helping dog businesses show up online.

As a dog mom, I've spent HOURS scrolling through Facebook and Instagram trying to find the right groomer, trainer, walker—you name it.

And honestly? Most of the time, I couldn't even tell what they offered or how to book them.

If you're a dog business owner, make it easy for people like me to find you. Update that bio. Pin that post. Add a booking link.

Your future clients (and their pups) will thank you. 🐾

Does your social media profile instantly tell people what you do? 🤔

Let's be real—most dog groomers, trainers, and walkers are working their butts off to get clients.

But then I go to their Instagram or Facebook profile and I have *no idea* what they actually do.

❌ No bio.
❌ No pinned post.
❌ Just random photos of dogs (which, don't get me wrong, I love dogs).

But nothing that tells me:

✅ What service you offer
✅ Where you're located
✅ How to book you

Here's the thing: If someone has to scroll for more than 3 seconds to figure out what you do, **they're gone**.

They're not gonna dig through your posts to figure it out. They're just gonna move on to the next groomer who made it obvious.

So here's what to do:

✅ **Update your bio** to say exactly what you do and where
Example: "Dog grooming in Laurel, MD | DM to book | Specializing in anxious pups 🐾"

✅ **Add a link** to your booking page (or at least a way to contact you)

✅ **Pin a post** that explains your services (Instagram lets you pin up to 3 posts—use that!)

That's it. Simple. But most people aren't doing it.

If you're a dog business owner, go check your profile right now. Does it pass the 3-second test?

If not, fix it today. Your future clients will thank you.
