🐶 How I Found Choco's Mobile Groomer (And What It Taught Me About Social Media)
I work in social media marketing, so you'd think I'd find Choco's groomer on Instagram, right?
Nope. I Googled "mobile groomer near me."
Here's my exact customer journey (and what it taught me about how dog owners ACTUALLY find services):
✅ Step 1: Google Search I typed "mobile groomer near me" and immediately started filtering by:
• Reviews (do people trust this person with their dogs?)
• Photos (do the dogs look good? Is this person legit?)
• Pricing info (even a ballpark range so I know if I should bother reaching out)
✅ Step 2: Social Media Stalking Once I found a few options, I checked their Instagram.
But not for cute content—I was looking for:
• Are they actively posting? (Last post from 2022? Pass.)
• Do the dogs look happy and well-groomed?
• Do they show their process, their setup, the before/afters?
I wasn't looking for viral reels. I was looking for PROOF that they know what they're doing.
✅ Step 3: The Website (This is Make-or-Break) I went to their website to find:
• Clear pricing (I need to know if this is even in my budget)
• Easy booking (if I have to email back-and-forth just to get an appointment, I might give up)
• Service details (what's included? How long does it take?)
What Made Me Book: The groomer I chose had clear pricing, recent social media posts showing actual client dogs, and easy online booking.
Done. Booked.
✨ The Lesson:
Your ideal clients START on Google, not Instagram.
They use social media to VET you—to see if you're legit, active, and trustworthy.
But if your Google Business Profile is outdated, your website has no pricing, or booking you is a hassle? They're moving on to the next groomer.
👉 Quick action: This week, Google "[your service] near me" and see what shows up. Is it YOU? Is your info current? Are your reviews recent? Is booking you easy?
That's the starting point for most of your clients.
