SCAM ALERT FOR THE NOT SO INTELLIGENT!!

Scammers have been calling residents claiming to collect a fine in lieu of an arrest for the US Marshalls.

They will ask for payment by gift cards, wiring money, or making a cryptocurrency transaction. And for some reason people think this is legit and a few residents have been ripped off so far.

If you believe you have received one of these calls or are a victim, you are asked to contact your local FBI office or file a consumer compliant with the Federal Trade Commission.

FIRE DEPARTMENT RECEIVES GRANT MONEY TO HELP WITH NEW TRUCK.

State Representative Aaron Bernstine, stated the Portersville Muddy Creek Volunteer Fire Department has been awarded a $80,000 loan by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner.

The Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Loan Program through the Office of the State Fire Commissioner provides low-interest loans to fire and EMS organizations to upgrade equipment or facilities.

PUBLIC DEFENDERS OFFICE IS SEEKING A GRANT.

The public defender received nearly $100,000 last year through the Commission on Crime and Delinquency. They used those funds to hire a part-time assistant public defender and new software along with service from the Center for Community Resources.

Another $98,000 is available through the same grant program that would allow the public defender to hire a part-time paralegal and purchase a new colored printer.

$98,000.00 for a PARALEGAL and a printer??? I do not know a paralegal who has ever broke $75,000.00 per year. Make it make sense to me.

REAL ID DEADLINE APPROACHING FAST.

REAL ID Kicks in May 7th. The deadline for enforcement of the federal REAL ID Act is less than two weeks away! A REAL ID is a card that combines a Pennsylvania’s driver’s license or state identification with federal identification for U.S. citizens.

As of May 7, federal law will require you to present a federally accepted form of identification to board a commercial domestic flight or visit a secure federal building that requires identification at the door. If you are planning to fly or visit these facilities for any reason, REAL ID, passports and military IDs are all acceptable forms of federal identification.

Pennsylvania residents are NOT required to get REAL ID. However, it is recommended for anyone who plans to fly or access specific types of federal facilities. Post offices will not require REAL ID.

To help expedite processing for those who wish to obtain a REAL ID, PennDOT is hosting a series of REAL ID Days on Mondays at several driver license locations across the Commonwealth. Locally, the Butler Driver License Center, located at 158 Point Plaza in Butler, will be hosting a REAL ID Day on Monday, May 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. A full list of driver license centers can be found by clicking here.

JOE BIDEN LOOKED FRAIL AT THE POPE'S FUNERAL - PLUS BIDEN ALSO WORE BLUE.

Former President Biden was seen gripping his wife Jill and a priest as he walked down a set of steps at Pope Francis's funeral on Saturday.

Biden, 82, clasped onto the priest's forearm as he could barely walk as he made a rare public appearance at the Vatican's Saint Peter's Square.

Wearing a pair of his favored aviator sunglasses and a blue suit, (for some reason Trump was chastised for the same thing) he was joined by the former First Lady.

At one point during the service, Biden was seen staring at the back of Trump's head from several rows back.

How did this frail old man run this country. It is like we lived in bizzarro world for the last four years.

BILL TO FIGHT OVERDOSE DEATHS APPROVED BY THE HOUSE.

Continuing the fight against the opioid epidemic, the state House this week adopted legislation that would require the creation and dissemination of materials to help people recognize the signs of an overdose and how to respond to save lives.

Under House Bill 269, posters and other materials would be created to explain the signs of an opioid-related overdose, what to do in the event of an opioid-related overdose, where to find an opioid antagonist, such as Naloxone, and where to find additional resources and information. The poster would be made available online to download for private use and displayed in public places to increase awareness of how to recognize and respond to opioid-related overdoses.

Almost 3,500 Pennsylvanians died from opioid overdoses in the 12-month period ending in November, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The state’s deadliest year of the opioid epidemic was in 2017 when almost 5,500 people died from overdoses. Despite the improvement, opioid overdoses still claim almost 10 lives a day in Pennsylvania.

The bill now goes to the Senate for consideration.
