📣 Breaking News from Cabool City Hall: Bike Park Project Denied 🚫

Hello Cabool Community,

In a surprising turn of events, the city council has overturned last month's approval for the development of a 5 million dollar bike park. This project, which was set to be donated to the city, promised significant economic development and recreational opportunities for our community.

Just last month, council member Brad Roberts was fully on board with the project. So, what happened? Why did the city decide to halt this promising development?

📢 Important Update: Cabool Local Elections Results & Bullying! 🗳️

Hello Cabool Community,

We have the results from the recent local elections, and Danny Cannon emerged as the winner with 198 votes, defeating James Gray who received 67 votes. Many were rooting for the underdog, James Gray, as he symbolized a fresh wave of change to revitalize Cabool.

For decades, Mayor Cannon has presided over a period of decline, with businesses leaving and houses falling into disrepair. The community yearned for change, and they voiced their desires through a newly established newspaper. However, the reflection they saw wasn't what they had hoped for.

Cabool is facing challenges, and it's evident in the decay of its infrastructure. Yet, there's a glimmer of hope with initiatives like MoDOT's new sidewalks, beautifying our community.

Since the closure of The Cabool Enterprise due to active boycotting, our town lacks a vital source of local news. Outsourcing to other newspapers isn't the solution; what we need is action.

It's disheartening to see unprofessional behavior from our fire chief Honeycutt and newly elected Mayor Cannon, engaging in public bullying. We believe both should step down from their positions immediately, allowing new officials to lead with professionalism and integrity.

If you believe in a brighter future for Cabool and believe in change, leave us a thumbs up! Let's work together to make a positive difference in our community. 🤝✨

Local elections April 2nd Cabool 📢

Get out and vote. Every vote counts in this election.

From the desk of James Gray

The time to change is now, the means to change is April 2nd. A decision is going to have to be made

on whether we stay where we are at or start laying the foundation for growth. The choice will be
made by the voting public on which direction we take. The Celebrate Cabool event on March 23rd
was a great success with over 200 people showing up throughout the day and exchanging
thoughts/ideas. The live entertainment, Southern Edge, was great. When we host this next year, we
hope more people will attend. City Hall was invited, so it doesn’t matter about your politics – it was
an event to celebrate Cabool. Thank you to all those that helped as well as the supporters for
showing up and showing their concern for our town.
We’re getting mixed messages on several things that are happening in Cabool from the public, such
as the new sidewalks. The ones installed by MoDOT look nice, but the people who plan to use them
have issues with the hills-and-dales when walking the paths. Of course, Garst Street was made so
we can’t drive a school bus out there – all in all I believe that the contractors from MoDOT did what
they were told to do. We need to look at any blueprints for future plans so they can be seen by the
general public and thoughts can be shared. The workload on the electricians is heavy, they’re doing
the best they can on trimming the trees from power lines. Remember, the work they are doing
(adding/changing telephone poles, etc.) have priority over tree work. I suggested we try to find a
grant or outside help like how Intercounty Electric subcontracts others to trim trees every 7 years –
how would we feel about that?
The YMCA will not own Cabool pool and will hold a management position only. The city pool will still
be maintained and have a say about pricing, so I was told. The holding pens for strays are licensed
and now it’s up to the animal control officer to take it from here – as per the council meeting held on
March 18th. The shoulder lines were addressed at the same meeting, in which I’ve yet to receive
word on. The right turn lane at Town & Country was also brought up, and I’m still told it can’t be
done. The idea of using community service people was mentioned, and again, I was given excuses
for why we can’t. Utilizing this resource would be good business, it would take one Cabool
employee to watch them as they mow ditches/yards, etc. while others can do more important
tasks.
Concerning the trash at Cedar Bluff Apartments, I drive through at least twice a week and cannot
see the problem. There are no diapers in yards, garbage/beer cans ... only some children’s toys
scattered around, which they know to move on scheduled mow days. I don’t understand why
people would want restrictions and make it so little kids can’t have toys to play with outside – or
why bikes/balls can’t be left on porches. Are they wanting to pass ordinances so children can’t play
in their yards? What are your thoughts? The ordinance for cars in people’s yards in Cabool… I
understand that having a bunch of old cars in someone’s yard is an eye sore and lowers property
values. But I also understand that some people build cars as a hobby or are helping fix up
friends/families vehicles. Some people have old trucks for lawn ornaments. So just like the yards
that need to be maintained, I believe in fairness that we give a leeway warning and time for them to
fix it up and help them if we can.

Important Announcement from The Cabool Enterprise

Dear Cabool Community,

It is with heavy hearts that we share this news. The Cabool Enterprise will be closing its doors for good. We've strived to be a beacon of truth, shining light on important matters in our community.

However, it's clear that our mission has faced challenges. The community's sentiment has been voiced, discouraging growth, change, and the pursuit of a better Cabool. We've fought against corruption, but it seems the battle is met with resistance.

To our loyal supporters, we extend our heartfelt gratitude. Your unwavering support fueled our mission, and we wish you strength in continuing the fight against corruption at all levels.

In the face of adversity, we hope for a transformation in Cabool—one where truth prevails, darkness turns to light, and hope blossoms anew. Our prayers are for positive change, unity, and a community that embraces the pursuit of a better future.

Thank you, and may the fight against corruption and deception endure. 🙏

From the Desk of James Gray,

There will be a question and answer session Tuesday the 16th of January at the senior center starting at 11:30 a.m. and lasting as long as needed. I feel that senior citizens, the retired, can be a great asset to both the city and community. They are a wealth of information; we have retired teachers, engineers, accountants, mathematicians, and also general knowledge like canning, food preservation, etc...

The first winter spat we're having now seems to have gone in our favor. I am waiting to see how the city deals with our next ice storm. We'll see what happens this year before I make a comment on it: but I am an advocate for pre-salting the major roads inside city limits. A lot of our electrical damage comes from the ice storms that come in damage the trees caught in the power lines which I feel should be addressed immediately in the spring not in November.

I have been going over some of the things that I want to deal with concerning the potholes and the department of transportation. I do have contact numbers but I am not in a position yet to represent the city of Cabool. If you have any concerns or complaints, feel free to call 417-254-0545 and one of the office personnel will bring it to my attention immediately. Please leave a call back number and I will deal with it between 8 - 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. Expect a call back within 30 minutes.

I see that as we get closer to the election that my haters and rumor control are in full swing. I'm not upset about this, I actually take it as a compliment. To them I say: it's funny how you never bring your comments or concerns up to me in person. I'm just waiting for the ultimate compliment, when you start a page so I can see your names.

I plan on pursuing term limits for alderman. I also plan on going over the books to determine what spending we feel is frivolous and relocating that money towards some of major issues Cabool faces such as water pipes, sewage, and flooding. Any job openings that do occur during my administration will be placed publicly and all applications will be considered regardless of your last name or who you know.

I realize that City council is the one that has to approve certain things. There are four districts in Cabool, each alderman represents a district. I would represent the entire city if I am elected. I am absolutely sure that if I explain to you why things aren't getting done the city will back me up. Those people who do not want to see progress will understand that the city is tired of complacency and incompetence.

The 15th (01/15/24 5:30pm) is the city council meeting and I encourage anyone and everyone to come. Bring a lawn chair, it shouldn't have to take 6 months to a year to get permission to fix a pothole.

I'm going to be very transparent to the point that these articles I am writing now, roughly every other week, will continue to be published even after the election. As mayor I will ensure you know what we're doing and who is doing it. I appreciate the support and for those that talk to me on the streets, let's keep this movement going. I hope to see you sometime while I'm out and about. Please, feel free to approach me. I will be available to any citizen.
