But God-willing, I also promise to get my beach loving daughter and beach loving self back to a beach this year 😂

Today we officially embark upon our homeschooling journey!

Little miss turns 4 in a month and we debated waiting one more year but she’s so excited for school (and I’m excited to homeschool😂) that we are getting started a year early!

We are using The Good and The Beautiful preschool curriculum along with an Orthodox preschool curriculum book. Our theme for August is FRIENDSHIP since she will be starting gymnastics, we are joining MOPS here, and more! New move, new activities = new friends… so the next couple of weeks, we are focusing on finding new friends, loving our new friends and how to be a good friend.

About a year ago I was given a jar of sourdough starter named Willow. I’ve been IN LOVE with making sourdough bread since. Willow has quite the story too as she has blessed many families across the COUNTRY thanks to all of the amazing women who have received her, continuing to share her.

I decided to enter a loaf of Willow into the farm show, and to my surprise today, she took FIRST PLACE! She was an entire loaf too, and this tiny piece is all that was left because apparently the judges enjoyed her that much😂😂

So thankful and honored to have won a blue ribbon with Willow at one of my favorite places & events in the whole world, the Big Butler Farm Show.

Should I take Willow to the state fair next?😂

It’s been a WILD 2 weeks as we moved from sunny & hot South Carolina back home to the beautiful foothills of Pennsylvania 🫶🏻

We finally have new phones with a new carrier that give us cell service at the new house😂 our dream of slow, quiet living at the new home was taken to a whole new level with the whole zero cell reception or internet options😂

We’ve been spending so much time with family and now that we feel settled into the house, we are looking forward to our new routines and activities we begin this week as well!

I’ll be sharing lots of sourdough recipes and more that I’ve already been making this week so follow along!

Hey there!👋🏻

We’re the Hughes family! I’m Jill and I’m married to my best friend, R.J. Together we have two amazing children, Jemma and Henry, and one child walking with Jesus, John👼.

For the last 2 years we’ve lived the cookie-cutter life in Summerville SC. And though we’ve loved the adventure, we’ve been craving for a slower paced life closer to family and to finally start our homestead dreams!

When we discussed the possibility of coming home, it was IMMEDIATE that God showed us He wanted us to go home. From getting a house and selling ours, to my husbands job opportunity and everything else… this whole process has gone better than we could imagine.

Instead of buying a home, we actually found a home for rent closer to family with an incredible landlord who’s allowing us to begin our homestead dreams on the property! Thanks to this, we can also achieve our debt payoff goals sooner than expected too!

Follow our journey as we learn and share homestead skills, our financial freedom journey, homeschool life, and more as we embrace this slower, but more fulfilled chapter of our lives.

We are so thankful for this new chapter and can’t wait for it to begin!
