Netflix has revealed new details about its upcoming animated adaptation of Roald Dahl’s The Twits, which will premiere on the streamer on Oct. 17. Written and directed by Oscar nominee Phil Johnston (co-writer and co-director on Ralph Breaks the Internet, co-writer on Zootopia and Wreck-It Ralph), the quirky feature will include three original songs penned by Talking Heads’ frontman David Bryne titled “We’re Not Like Ev’ryone Else,” “Lullabye” and “The Problem Is You." Paramore singer Hayley Williams joins Byrne in the end-title song “Open the Door," which is co-written by both artists.

The production also announced the full voice cast list: Joining the previously announced Johnny Vegas and Margo Martindale, who voice Mr. & Mrs.

Line Digital Frontier, a Japan-based subsidiary of Webtoon Entertainment, has joined forces with Oscar-nominated DandeLion Animation Studio (The First Slam Dunk, Magic Candies) to adapt the action-fantasy comics series Eleceed as an anime. The original work created by Jeho Son and Zhena has garnered more than 1.4 billion views on Webtoon — one of the platform's top performing action titles — and has been published in 10 languages.

Eleceed follows Jiwoo Seo, a kind-hearted teen with hidden powers, and Kayden, a powerful being who takes the form of a stray cat after being injured. These unlikely allies join forces to battle formidable enemies and deep-rooted conspiracies through the comic.

The anime adaptation will be directed by Hiroshi Nishikiori (Idolish7 Movie, Honey Lemon Soda) with series composition by Yousuke Kuroda (My Hero Academia) and character design supervision by Minami Sakura (Gridman Universe).

Details of the new structure planned for Paramount Global after its acquisition by Skydance have emerged, with the news that South Park and its production studio South Park Digital Studios (a joint venture of Paramount and series creator Trey Parker and Matt Stone's Park County) will fall under the purview of Paramount Global co-CEO George Cheeks, who will change his title to Chair of TV Media post-merger.

In his new role, Cheeks will oversee Paramount’s broadcast and cable television businesses, including the CBS Network, CBS News & Stations, CBS Sports and CBS Studios, BET Studios, Nickelodeon TV Studios, See It Now Studios and Paramount Media Networks (MTV, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, BET).

South Park's creators recently inked a five-year overall deal extension with Paramount valued at $1.5 billion. In addition to bringing the rating juggernaut to Paramount+ in the U.S. (formerly on HBO Max), the agreement includes 50 new episodes and all 26 previous seasons of the show.

Distributor Viva Kids revealed today that the North American theatrical release of the fast & furry animal road rally adventure Grand Prix of Europe has set a course for a new date on August 29, having previously been slated for Aug. 22. The family-friendly CG flick follows a daring young driver on an epic quest to burn rubber across the continent and save the day.

A new trailer for the NorAm theatrical run was released today with the date change news.
Synopsis: Grand Prix of Europe revolves around Edda, a young mouse, who dreams of racing glory. When Edda’s world takes an unexpected turn, she disguises herself as her racing idol, the legendary Ed, and seizes the once-in-a-lifetime chance to drive in the Grand Prix. What starts as a daring stunt becomes the ride of her life as she takes Ed’s place in competition. The prize money would save her family’s amusement park and a win would save Ed’s title.

GKIDS has unveiled the details for October 21 Blu-ray releases of the award-winning films Evangelion:1.11 You Are (Not) Alone and Evangelion:2.22 You Can (Not) Advance. Each release contains several bonus features, including a 16-page booklet inside Evangelion:1.11, and a 20-page booklet inside Evangelion:2.22. Both films will also be made available on all major digital platforms on September 16. The releases will be distributed by Shout! Studios, a Radial Entertainment company, and are available for pre-order.

Created by Hideaki Anno, the Neon Genesis Evangelion franchise is considered one of the most influential animated sagas of all time. Since the 1995 premiere of the original television series, the story of teenager Shinji Ikari has remained a definitive title in animation history, and a global pop culture phenomenon. Following the conclusion of the 1995 show, the project received new life as the Evangelion movie series.

New research from podcast and video creation platform Riverside (riverside.fm) has identified the most popular YouTube channels across the U.S., based on average monthly Google searches.

Nationally, children's animation hit CoComelon (Moonbug Ent.) dominates as the most searched channel. The daily adventure of JJ and the gang claims the top spot in 49 states with an average of 87,607 Google searches per month across the country.

The new figures put CoComelon ahead of YouTube star MrBeast, who boasts over 410 million subscribers on the platform and ranked second nationwide and on the Top 5 in every state. Searched for MrBeast average 26,863 per month.

The Swifties were also out in force, bringing Taylor Swift to third place with an average of 9.828 Google searches across the U.S. each month. The performer's channel is the No. 1 searched for in Alaska and ranks third in 28 other states.

Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc., together with Shueisha Inc. and Toei Animation Co., Ltd., announce, “One Piece Day ’25,”, taking place in Tokyo International Exhibition Center (Tokyo Big Sigh) August 9-10. From the manga, anime, music, games and merchandise, this event brings every aspect of the One Piece universe together in one supersized experience.

For One Piece fans around the world, the Main Stage program of will be livestreamed globally for free through One Piece’s official YouTube channel, with simultaneous translations in English (some segments exempt). The event kicks off with the “One Piece Day ’25 Premiere Eve” on Saturday, August 9, followed by a full day of live programming on Sunday, August 10.

Evie, Peppa Pig’s new baby sister, makes her television debut as brand-new Season 11 episodes premiere on Nickelodeon beginning August 4, airing Monday through Thursday at 9 a.m. ET/PT for two consecutive weeks.

These episodes mark a strategic evolution for Hasbro’s globally popular Peppa Pig franchise, which the company ways will present a "refreshed tone, more vibrant visual style and new character dynamics that reflect the lives of today’s preschoolers and their parents." The animated series and its extensive expansions across publishing, games, licensing and more have been a hit with little ones for over 20 years, inspiring preschoolers with the confidence to seek out new experiences. This year’s winner of the Jury’s Choice Award at SIGGRAPH is Jour de Vent (Windy Day), a wordless poetic short about various people encountering a very strong wind in the park. The project was a labor of love for Martin Chailloux, Ai Kim Crespin, Élise Golfouse, Chloé Lab, Hugo Taillez and Camille Truding — graduates of ENSI (École des Nouvelle Images) school in France. Here is what they told us about their lovely student project.

The idea behind the short: We made Jour de Vent (Windy Day) for our graduation movie, at our school ENSI in Avignon. The wind here is called ‘The Mistral’, there were times when it was so powerful that it was impossible for us to walk straight. We wanted to know what would happen if people were carried away by the wind. The six of us wanted to make a poetic short with a stylized 3D render, so the movie grew into itself quite naturally.

Global animate platform Crunchyroll held its Crunchyroll Panel at AnimagiC 2025 on Saturday, August 2, at the Congress Center Rosengarten in Mannheim, Germany. There’s always a great level of excitement amongst animation fans when a new film from Japanese auteur Mamoru Hosoda is about to be released. The much-loved director — whose oeuvre includes The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Summer Wars, Wolf Children, The Boy and the Beast, Miria and Belle—will be unveiling his latest film, Scarlet, at the Venice Film Festival in September.

Slated for a November release in Japan and a Dec. 12 release in the U.S. via Sony, the movie tells the story of a fearless princess who transcends time and space. In the film, Scarlet leaps across space and time to get revenge for her father’s murder. Along the way, she meets a modern-day Japanese man named Hijiri who helps her in her dangerous mission. Producers are Yuichiro Saito and Nozomu Takahashi (Studio Chizu) and Toshimi Tanio (Nippon TV).

Disney Branded Television celebrated the Season 3 debut of The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, premiering Wednesday, August 6 on Disney+, with a screening and moderated Q&A at the Disney Television Animation studio in Glendale, California.

Attendees were also treated to an exclusive look at the first two episodes of the season, following the Proud family on an international journey beginning in Paris, France. Following the screening, guests participated in a Q&A with Kyla Pratt (voice of Penny Proud), Bruce W. Smith (creator/executive producer), Ralph Farquhar (executive producer) and Kurt Farquhar (songwriter/composer). Journalist Brande Victorian moderated the discussion, exploring the cultural impact of the beloved series, fan-favorite moments, and insight into future adventures in the upcoming season.
