Another day and another Charolais heifer! With the excitement of last night with the Lazy H Ranch Colorado sale and reality of the future that HANS has in the charolais we couldn’t help but clip our only HANS heifer calf up and get some footage.

She is a tough one to picture and video because she is so gentle and curious so take it for what it is and come on by with a trailer and check because she’s gonna make someone real happy!

The simbrah female got so much traction, interest, and hype that it kinda got me into sale season quick! The next female clipped and ready to go is a green and elegant built one. This female reminds me a lot of a foreigner we sold last year that went on to be the reserve supreme female at the Utah Ag Expo for the Farnsworth family.

It’s finally October and we are getting started on clipping and picturing the private treaty heifers at the headquarters in Caldwell, Tx.

Happy Monday! I had the best feed help in the world this morning before Stella’s dentist appointment. Not sure who is growing faster, this set of calves or our baby girl?! We will be clipping private treaty sale calves over the next couple weeks. Come by at your convenience and find your next champion!

Talk about a transformation Tuesday!!!

Big congratulations to some of our Utah crew! Congratulationsto Laney Farnsworth on having the Champion Charolais Female and the Reserve Supreme female at the Utah Ag Expo! “Willow” was bought out of our online sale last fall as a skinny lot 11. We love selling them green and watching the develop into power house breds!

FUN FACT: this is the second year in a row that a foreigner daughter has won the charolais and gotten a piece of the supreme at the Utah AG expo.

First load of fall calving cows is home! We are really excited to see what hit the ground this fall! Our first due dates are 9/17 with a couple of new matings to hit the ground here. Stay tuned and remember we are NOT having a fall online sale. All cattle will be available private treaty through Doonan Cattle Company until next fall.

Long post but it sure is an exciting time around here.

Summer 2025. It’s one we will reflect on as a reset. From a large majority of our recips having neighbors bull sired calves to drought to flood and back to drought. High cattle prices, family trips, and refinding ourselves as a program and people. It’s been one to remember and one I have loved with our people. Lots of big changes coming and it’s as exciting as it’s been around here for a while now.

Stella was the most excited about fishing with mom and dad on our annual beach trip to getting our girl Shea back from KMR performance horses!

-We have a new herd sire rolling out this fall raised by the Sweppy family in Illinois. Sid is a PA free redemption son that is backed by old school cool cow genetics. He is moderate, dense, extremely fertile, and dog gentle. Bovine elite has semen available to ship on hand at $35/unit with no minimum and No signing fees! Picture coming this fall!

-We are redoing our breeding pens so we can better serve our AI and ET customers

-Our commercial bull market and program has exploded with happy bull buyers which we are so thankful for.

-New and returning Show heifer customers have found success with some exciting wins this summer as the spring 2024 heifers are returning home from getting bred and the fall 2024 heifers are finding their grove!

Due to fewer purebred heifer calf numbers and to accommodate growth and changes around here, we have decided for the first time in almost a decade to OFFER OUR ENTIRE SPRING HEIFER CALF CROP PRIVATE TREATY this fall 2025. I want to be clear the plans are to have a 2026 sale with SCO and Clint Petzold since they have been our go to guys and are the best at what they do!

We will nose tab the older calves next week and they will be ready to go early September. The younger calves will be weaned first part of October. We will also have some consignments from our customers and friends so watch for updates or come see them in person!
