When a missing woman’s car is sitting in your county’s parking lot…
Do you open a case or hand it off?
January 20, 2020 – Gordon County Sheriff’s Office Report 20-01-0876.
Keeslyn Noel Roberts had been missing for a week. Her father finds her white Toyota Corolla at the Flying J on Resaca Beach Blvd in Resaca (Gordon County).
He reports it.
The response?
“Agency Assist.”
Refer him to Murray County.
Leave the car.
End of report.
That same lot is where Caleb Smith’s vehicle was also present. Two vehicles. One jurisdiction. One decision that still raises questions years later.
We are fiercely pro-law enforcement. We support the men and women who do the job right every single day. But the official record is the official record — and the public has every right to examine how this was handled.
This is why the Keeslyn Roberts and Caleb Smith’s cases still matter.
