FATAL ACCIDENT REPORTED BY THE GCSO: GCSO, Fire/Rescue, and the Coroner’s Office are on the scene of a commercial accident at a business on State Route 136 in Nickelsville where a fatality has occurred. There is a single victim, and no foul play is suspected.

The investigation is being led by the Coroner’s Office.

HAPPENING THIS AFTERNOON! MORNING POINTE OF CALHOUN INVITES COMMUNITY TO SPECIAL “STRONGER TOGETHER” EVENT. Morning Pointe of Calhoun Assisted Living and Memory Care invites the community to join them for “Stronger Together: Celebrating Our Morning Pointe Family” on Thursday, November 13, from 4–6 p.m. at 660 Jolly Road NW in Calhoun.

The free, family-friendly event will bring together residents, families, associates, and friends for an evening of celebration, music, and community connection. Guests can enjoy live entertainment, a grazing table with desserts and refreshments, and fun for all ages—including face painting, coloring, and games.

The event is free and open to the public.

CPD SEEKS PUBLIC'S HELP LOCATING ANOTHER ALLEGED SHOPLIFTER: The Calhoun Police Department says it's another week and a new (alleged) shoplifter they could use the public's help identifying.

Around 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2025, the subject pictured entered the Ulta Beauty store at 452 Hwy. 53 in Calhoun and left the business with more than $1,000 worth of merchandise without paying, according to the CPD.

DON’T FORGET…HAPPENING TODAY! MARSHALLS CALHOUN OPENS: The Voluntary Action Center has announced that Marshalls, a community partner of the VAC, is officially opening its doors today, Thursday, November 13th, in Indian Hills Shopping Center at 466 Hwy 53 East, Calhoun, GA 30701.

Opening Day Hours are through 10:00 PM
with Regular Hours of Monday–Sunday, 9:30 AM – 9:30 PM.

Halpern Enterprises, Inc., which owns Indian Hills Shopping Center on Hwy. 53 East, confirmed with the Gordon Gazette in November 2024 that the company had completed a lease with Marshalls to open a 23,000 SF store inside Indian Hills Shopping Center.

Marshalls, Inc. is an American chain of off-price apparel and home fashions department stores owned by TJX Companies. Other companies owned by TJX Companies include TJ Maxx and HomeGoods.

🚨NY POST - TRUMP SIGNS FUNDING BILL TO END HISTORIC SHUTDOWN. President Trump signed a funding bill Wednesday to end the longest government shutdown in US history, hours after the House of Representatives passed legislation ending the 43-day standoff.

Trump re-upped his demand for Senate Republicans to “terminate” the filibuster — so that “this would never happen again” — and called for the “massive amount” of federal funding for Obamacare to be “paid directly to the people of our country, so that they can buy their own health care.”
