China has deployed a lifelike bionic Tibetan antelope in Hoh Xil National Nature Reserve to monitor endangered herds without disturbance.
Developed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and DEEP Robotics, the AI-powered robot uses 5G to transmit real-time data on migration, feeding, and calf growth.
Designed for extreme altitudes above 15,000 feet, it blends seamlessly with herds and operates in rugged terrain up to 1.2 miles from control points.
The system can warn of road crossings to prevent collisions, offering conservationists unprecedented insight into the region’s wildlife and paving the way for AI-driven ecological research.
