“The Glory of the Glide”, is a short documentary film exploring the history and future of the San Diego big board movement featuring Skip Frye, Josh Hall, Devon Howard, Jen Smith and Erin Ashley. It was first screened at the 2017 San Diego Surf film festival. It’s now available along with bonus “The Josh Hall Story” doc film (2016 ). Check profile link!

This film was shot in one day at Tourmaline and Pablo Smith’s house, February 2016, Pacific Beach, San Diego, California for Blue Mag / Japan and released as a special CD insert / feature “California” issue.

Huge thank you to all who made this possible, especially Josh Hall for inviting me into the inner sanctum of some of the richest surf history on the planet. It’s truly a privilege to honor the honorable. Thank you to Blue Mag and Holysmoke for making this film possible.

So much gratitude for my film crew: Ruben James Escalante, associate producer/director, Gordon Yould, Director of Photography, Brooks Burgoon, Camera Operator. Deep appreciation for the musical talents of Zach Ostroff, Composer, Scott Gratton, Composer, Yusuke Tsutsumi, Composer, Broke for Free, Composer.
Special thanks to Pablo Smith for letting us invade his house and backyard for interviews.
Shot using 3 Sony cameras (FS7, A7S, AX100), one DJI Osmo, an iPhone in a Watershot Pro housing, and Canon DSLR (7D). Edited with Final Cut Pro X.

Back in 2016, we made a short documentary film about an all-women surf contest at Malibu featuring , back in the day when granted Malibu Surfing Assoc.] 3 day permits (thank you pres ). That event made history as one of the only women run, women’s pro invitational at iconic First Point. Even better, Worm donated the proceeds to Keep A Breast Foundation], a global organization dedicated to early detection and heathy living. Now here we are today in 2022, still eagerly following the high desert path of founder ’s next big endeavor on her journey of helping women around the world. These are the sweet connections in life. Fact: Malibu Surfing Assoc.] still supports Keep A Breast Foundation] each year with a generous donation. Shout out to crew for making the doc film “worm dreams big” possible.

Recent commercial work for eBay Fashion by and featuring Just Add Glam. Special thanks to homie , impeccable wardrobe styling by . Because as much as we’d love it to be different, we can’t pay our bills making short docs...though that is the dream. Without client work, SeaLevel.tv never would have happened, since Beth and Jeff began by shooting TV together over eight years ago. It’s really a balance of making sure we’re doing our life’s work and supporting our families. And, truth be told, we love all our clients and crew and the business vibe. One practice definitely compliments the other. Can’t wait to show you more in 2019!

Shoot and destroy! knocking down 2 solid days and 4 locations in the beautiful seaside hamlet of Ventura for , an Amsterdam-based digital asset management company that’s recently entered the US market with a huge bang. What? Not documentary, you say? Well, in case you don’t already know, we cannot live and support our families by making doc films alone...however it remains a dream for us to do just that. and began collaborating on commercial projects long before became a bright, warm gleam in our eyes. Though tech may seem like dull subject matter compared to the very personal and cultural narratives you’re used to seeing from us, we love flexing our technical and artistic muscles to tease honest, lifestyle-driven stories around smart, competitive product offerings like cloud-based business and consumer apps. It’s curiously rewarding to apply our skills and find that they resonate with all sorts of audiences, resulting in happy clients. Huge thanks to talent and crew that made these last few days possible: my compadres , And PS: the bird is a tribute to Johnny Cash who made his home just up the hill from here in Casitas Springs.
