Kisii Mother Welcomes Quadruplets — Names Them Raila, Amolo, Odinga, and Ida in Heartfelt Tribute
History was made at Nyanchwa Hospital in Kisii Town when local mother Vane Nyanchoka Ontweka gave birth to quadruplets — the first-ever set delivered at the facility.
According to Citizen TV, the maternity ward erupted in cheers and tears of joy on Monday morning as doctors and nurses celebrated the rare and joyous occasion.
“It’s the first time we have ever delivered quadruplets here,” a member of the medical team shared. “It was both historic and emotional.”
🌸 A Dramatic and Unexpected Delivery
The babies — three boys and one girl — were safely delivered via Caesarean section after a lengthy, delicate procedure. Initially told she was expecting triplets, Vane was astonished to discover a fourth baby during delivery.
“I was prepared for three,” she said with a smile. “When I woke up and heard there were four, I couldn’t believe it. It was an incredible surprise.”
All four babies were born healthy, though slightly underweight — typical for multiple births.
💞 A Tribute to a National Hero
In a deeply symbolic gesture, Vane named her newborns Raila, Amolo, Odinga, and Ida — honoring former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and his wife Ida Odinga.
“To me, Raila is our hero,” she said emotionally. “When the babies were born, I thought, ‘Raila has come back — and in such a big way!’”
Her heartfelt tribute quickly spread across Kisii County, with many Kenyans praising her admiration and spirit.
👨👩👧👦 From Twins to Quadruplets — A Growing Family
Already a mother of twins, Vane now has six children in total. She expressed gratitude despite the challenges ahead.
“I’m thankful to God for this blessing,” she said. “It’s not easy, but I’m happy. I just pray for strength and support to raise them well.”
Hospital officials have since called on the community to help the family with financial and childcare support, given the extraordinary demands of caring for four newborns.
🌈 Joy and Hope in Kisii
As news of the quadruple birth spread, messages of joy, admiration, and support poured in from across Kenya. Photos from the hospital show beaming staff gathered proudly around the newborns — a moment of shared pride and hope.
“Every child is a blessing,” Vane said softly. “But these four came with a message of hope.”
