BOMB SHELL NEWS:
AUTHORITIES ARREST ANTONIO MOLINA DĂŤAZ, FORMER FEDERAL PRISONS COORDINATOR AND ASSOCIATE OF GARCĂŤA LUNA
Federal authorities arrested Antonio Molina DĂaz yesterday in Mexico City’s Miguel Hidalgo borough. The former General Coordinator of Prevention and Social Readaptation, basically the boss of Mexico’s federal prisons (Ceferesos) from 2013 to 2018 — was taken into custody on charges of embezzlement, organized crime, and illicit financial operations.
Molina DĂaz was one of the closest collaborators in the prison system tied to Genaro GarcĂa Luna’s network. Prosecutors say during his time in charge he signed contracts for the construction of at least eight federal prisons through which more than 5 billion pesos were allegedly diverted.
This is yet another heavy blow to the structures that operated during the PAN and PRI governments. While citizens struggled with insecurity and overcrowded prisons, millions that should have gone to real public safety and decent facilities were reportedly siphoned off.
It’s shocking how deep this corruption went.
These cases keep revealing how public resources meant for security and justice were turned into personal fortunes for a few.
The impact is huge. Every peso stolen weakened our institutions and left families suffering the consequences of failed prisons and unchecked crime.
This arrest sends a clear message: no one is untouchable anymore
