The North Star. Since the beginning of time, travelers have used it to navigate. If you have a belief system that you depend on to guide you in life, that is your North Star. Sometimes it is obscured by clouds. Sometimes it is difficult to see, like during the daytime when all is well. As it is a light in its own right, it shines most brilliantly in the deepest darkness of space.

What are the beliefs that guide you on a daily basis? What is YOUR North Star? If you have clarity and peace when you follow your dreams then it is a wonderful thing. If however, you have confusion or discomfort when you try to navigate your life, maybe there is another belief system that could replace the one you already possess.

Often, all it takes to see the possibilities and a dream result for your life is a conversation with someone who has traveled a similar path; to inspiration, clarity, and enlightenment.

I remember an epiphany I had when I went to Kosovo to work as a Civilian Police Officer with the UN. It never occurred to me that there were so many different types of police officers from around the world. It was quite an awakening and an education.

Do you like apples? There are approximately 7,500 different varieties of apples world-wide. You need to be specific when you choose what you want. The same is true of coaches. Don't be afraid to take a closer look before you enter into an agreement with one.

It occurs to me this morning that as we engage in conversation about imposter syndrome or our learning journey we are constantly encouraged to disregard the comparisons we make between ourselves and others. Oddly enough, we do this while setting someone or some program as a comparison to guide us. I believe it is quite necessary to have a small group of friends who can offer an honest assessment of your skills and attributes to support this. Honest, loving, engaged "mirrors" if you will.
