Ever wonder how you can get more love for your band's music? Here's one idea: name a song "Q Division"! The band LaMP, featuring our old friend and Natives drummer Russ Lawton tried this approach with a song that he dedicated to Mike Denneen. In all seriousness, we're honored!

from the album LaMP ft. Russ Lawton, Scott Metzger & Ray Paczkowski

Last year we joined forces with the Ronan Fund to offer a (paid) apprenticeship at Q Division. Our first apprentice was Bini Hill (pictured!), a Cambridge native, and let us tell you - he was an awesome apprentice! Bini shared these thoughts with us:

"… I wanna say, the opportunity here is amazing. The money that I have been graciously given was used to build a studio in my basement. It’s hard to learn all the technical stuff when only being there for technically, 15 to 16 days. But what I’ve definitely learned is the environment. The vibe, The social side. The motivation that I’ve gotten. I know to you guys that might not seem a lot. And maybe you guys wanted to teach me all that technical side and get me to know all that. But I truly think this was a success to me….. You changed my life."

We're happy to announce that we're offering another apprenticeship, and applications are open from April 4- May 2. We'll make our decision by the third week in May, and we're hoping the new apprentice will start in June.

To recap: this opportunity is offered to a high school graduate who wants to learn on the job - someone who's not going to college - and who's driven, motivated, and inspired. Each apprentice will emerge with hands-on work experience and broader industry network they need to launch their careers.

More info is on our website:

And of course donations are always welcome and helpful to help make this a sustainable opportunity - visit the The Ronan Fund for more information.

Last year we partnered with The Ronan Fund and created a paid apprenticeship position at Q Division for an emerging engineer/producer/musician. Our first Ronan Fund Apprentice was Bini Hill, who crushed the opportunity! The great news is that applications are OPEN again (deadline is May 2nd). The short version is that we're looking for driven and curious high school grads (who's aren't college bound), to join our team of engineers, assistants, and interns for on the job learning and training - and be a meaningful part of the Q Crew.

Applications are open for The Ronan Fund and The Ronan Fund Apprenticeship at Q Division Studios! Each year, we support recent high school grads with the drive to succeed in a trade or the arts without a four-year college degree.

Don't sleep on this. Apply before May 2. We can't wait to hear about your dreams!

Apply at www.theronanfund.org.

A few months ago Bob Bradshaw did something I’ve always wanted to do at the new Q - he made a live record, with his full band, featuring special guests on a few of the numbers. Not only that, but he brought in a seasoned film crew to illuminate and capture the entire thing with multiple cameras! It was a wild day and a half, and the band nailed great performances. The album comes out today, with great reviews, and you can watch some of the videos on YouTube (link in Q’s Bio).

Bob Bradshaw - vocals/acoustic guitar
Andrew Stern - electric guitar
James Rohr - piano
John Sheeran - bass
Mike Connors - drums

Back in June we had the pleasure of hosting the impeccable gentleman Bob Bradshaw, and his band of ace collaborators - James Rohr, Andrew Stern, andy santospago, Mike Connors, and John Sheeran. A video crew led by Mark Steele captured the day long session. We think it's a beautiful way to use the space - and exactly one of the ways we hoped Studio A would be utilized - people playing together!

Recorded by Rafi Sofer and mixed by Dave Westner, the entire session will be released as a live album, and the videos have been trickling out over time - check them out on Bob's YouTube channel, and catch the band alongside The Blue Ribbons at The Lizard Lounge on February 22nd.
