Q Division Studios is a world class recording studio with over 25(!) years at the center of the Boston music scene. Q Division is known for its classic gear, great live rooms, professional but not sterile atmosphere, and overall great sounding records. (By the way, the hours above are office hours- the studio operates anytime you want to make and record music).

Count Zero came in for a couple of days a while back to track some songs both live in front of an audience and without an audience. We captured it all and they've been releasing really cool videos from the sessions. I really like this new one that features Jude Heichelbech on vocals (I believe she wrote this one too)...

‘With a Feather’ is from Count Zero newcomer Jude Heichelbech. It's the beloved Boston band’s first female-penned and sung track, from the latest album ‘tho...

We mentioned this a couple of weeks ago, but here it is again! We've hung concert and art photography work of Coleman Rogers in Studio B's lounge. It's really cool!
We'll have an opening in late October or early November - sign up for our mailing list if you'd like to get invited. If you'd like to see the work, and don't have a session booked, drop us a line and we'll be glad to arrange a time for you to check out the show.

We're really pleased to hang Coleman Rogers' photos in Studio B's lounge for the next few months. Coleman is a long time music nerd, if you will - he's an engineer, a tech, a teacher, a photographer, and like the rest of us - a devoted fan.

Just hung our second show, this one of work by Coleman Rogers Photography. This collection is a mix of performance shots and art prints, and it's really a treat to get to hang some of Coleman's work! The opening won't be till the fall, but don't let that stop you from visiting us (by appointment please), to check out his work (and/or make a record)...

Our friend Jim Haggerty - bassist, booker, promoter, and jedi level cat photo-shopper, needs a bit of help getting back on the road after his car suffered a meltdown. The sooner we can get him back on the road, the more time he'll have to put cats in upcoming gig posters!

Love this shot of David Robinson (the Cars), shot by Jon Strymish, that's been hanging in Studio B's lounge for the past few months. His show is coming down in early next month - if you haven't seen it, you've got about a week left to check it out.

Ever wonder how you can get more love for your band's music? Here's one idea: name a song "Q Division"! The band LaMP, featuring our old friend and Natives drummer Russ Lawton tried this approach with a song that he dedicated to Mike Denneen. In all seriousness, we're honored!

from the album LaMP ft. Russ Lawton, Scott Metzger & Ray Paczkowski

Last year we joined forces with the Ronan Fund to offer a (paid) apprenticeship at Q Division. Our first apprentice was Bini Hill (pictured!), a Cambridge native, and let us tell you - he was an awesome apprentice! Bini shared these thoughts with us:

"… I wanna say, the opportunity here is amazing. The money that I have been graciously given was used to build a studio in my basement. It’s hard to learn all the technical stuff when only being there for technically, 15 to 16 days. But what I’ve definitely learned is the environment. The vibe, The social side. The motivation that I’ve gotten. I know to you guys that might not seem a lot. And maybe you guys wanted to teach me all that technical side and get me to know all that. But I truly think this was a success to me….. You changed my life."

We're happy to announce that we're offering another apprenticeship, and applications are open from April 4- May 2. We'll make our decision by the third week in May, and we're hoping the new apprentice will start in June.

To recap: this opportunity is offered to a high school graduate who wants to learn on the job - someone who's not going to college - and who's driven, motivated, and inspired. Each apprentice will emerge with hands-on work experience and broader industry network they need to launch their careers.

More info is on our website:

And of course donations are always welcome and helpful to help make this a sustainable opportunity - visit the The Ronan Fund for more information.

Last year we partnered with The Ronan Fund and created a paid apprenticeship position at Q Division for an emerging engineer/producer/musician. Our first Ronan Fund Apprentice was Bini Hill, who crushed the opportunity! The great news is that applications are OPEN again (deadline is May 2nd). The short version is that we're looking for driven and curious high school grads (who's aren't college bound), to join our team of engineers, assistants, and interns for on the job learning and training - and be a meaningful part of the Q Crew.

Applications are open for The Ronan Fund and The Ronan Fund Apprenticeship at Q Division Studios! Each year, we support recent high school grads with the drive to succeed in a trade or the arts without a four-year college degree.

Don't sleep on this. Apply before May 2. We can't wait to hear about your dreams!

Apply at www.theronanfund.org.
