Down in in Beckley at Linda K. Epling Stadium for the West Virginia American Legion Baseball Tournament on championship Monday.

Easton Miller draws a walk to load the bases with no outs in the fourth inning. Parkersburg Post 15 would later push across a run via sac fly.

It’s been a shootout thus far… Post 15 currently trails Wheeling Post 1 11-7 in the bottom of the fourth.

Cozzens is one of the best and most accomplished high school basketball coaches the area has seen. A graduate of Belpre high school, Cozzens had success in both West Virginia and Ohio.

He led the Parkersburg Lady Big Reds for four seasons. In 2018 and 2019 Cozzens' teams won back-to-back Class AAA state titles.

Prior to joining PHS, Cozzens had great success at Marietta. This included two trips to the Sweet 16 and twice being named conference and district coach of the year. On his staff at Marietta was the current head coach of PHS girls basketball, Aimee Way.

This weekend Cozzens will officially join the MOV Sports Hall of Fame.

A 1965 graduate of PHS, Maxwell served his country in Vietnam before returning to Wood County, where he's remained as a teacher for 37 years.

He became a fan favorite by taking on the cheerful, enthusiastic persona of "Mad Max" at all kinds of sporting events in the MOV.

This Saturday he'll be forever enshrined in the MOV Sports Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2026.

On Monday the WVU baseball team made their way to The Dugout on Gihon Road.

Young kids from around the area made their way to the diamond to meet and play with some of the Mountaineers who helped lead WVU to its best season in program history.

Dan and Ryan Patterson are both grandfather-grandson and co-owners of Titletown Sports Cards in Marietta.

They opened the shop back on October 4th of 2024. The shop has grown tremendously since then.

What began a smaller part-time shop has blossomed into a full-time business. Titletown went from being open only Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to being open 6 days a week.

You can visit the store Tuesday-Sunday… they’re open 11-7 every day except Wednesday, which is 11-5.

WVU baseball is in Parkersburg!

A big group of Mountaineers, including the all-time RBI leader in WVU postseason history Ben Lumsden, made the trip to The Dugout to work with some of the MOV youngsters.

A couple of weeks ago the Parkersburg South bowling team returned from its first ever trip to the U.S. High School Bowling National Championship in Columbus.

Overall it was a successful weekend for both the boys and girls teams.

Two individual performances highlighted the championship: Brayden Gallagher, who placed 29th out of 549 bowlers, and Addison Giffin, who finished 60th out of 294 bowlers.

Get to know the next head baseball coach of Parkersburg South. Levi Maxwell is taking over for Bryan Youngblood following six successful seasons at Williamstown.

A native of Shinnston, West Virginia, Maxwell is a graduate of Lincoln High School. He played college baseball at WVU from 2004-2007. Following a standout career as a Mountaineer Maxwell was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 18th round of the 2007 MLB draft.

After three seasons in the minor leagues Maxwell began his coaching career as an assistant at the college level. His first high school head coaching was at the Class A level in WV with Wirt County.

After a couple seasons with the Tigers Maxwell moved up to AA with Williamstown, and is now at AAAA with South.

Levi Maxwell takes over as the head coach of the Patriots baseball team after six seasons with Williamstown.
