I’ve spent thousands of dollars trying to make sure I’m doing right by my son.

Attorneys.
Specialists.
Evaluations.
Endless paperwork.

And yet I found myself sitting in a room recently listening to professionals explain why maybe the school is right with some adjustments…

Why maybe a more restrictive classroom made sense.
Why maybe his behaviors were bigger than I wanted to admit.

Academically, I know the argument.

I understand why someone looking at a stack of reports might think a self-contained classroom is the safer option.

But that’s the thing.
They know the paperwork.

I know my child…

They see the behaviors.

I see the little boy who taught himself sight words.
The little boy who multiplies and divides
The little boy who is starting conversations.
The little boy who recently voiced he felt lonely…
The little boy who watches soccer with his dad.

The little boy who keeps proving people wrong.

And sometimes autism motherhood feels like standing in a room full of experts saying:

“I hear everything you’re saying.”

“But I need you to see him too.”

One of the greatest gifts God gave me on this journey wasn’t a roadmap.

It was people.

People who carried hope when mine was running low.

People who shared their light when I couldn’t see the path ahead.

I’ll never forget them.

Most parents assume family automatically gets their child if something happens to them.

That’s not always true.

After speaking with autism mom, advocate, and special needs planning expert Vanessa Lemus, I learned that one missing legal document could create challenges no family ever wants to imagine.

The thought of my autistic son being separated from his siblings because I didn’t have the right plan in place is something I can’t even comprehend.

These are the conversations no one wants to have—but every special needs family deserves to hear.

Conversations like this happen every Friday at 8 PM EST on Instagram Live. Full replays are available on YouTube and Spotify.

Daddy was so happy.

For years, he dreamed of sharing his love of soccer with David. As time went on, he quietly started letting go of that picture he had in his head.

But tonight, there was David… actively watching, engaged, smiling, and genuinely enjoying the game with him.

The smile on Pedro’s face said everything.

A reminder that sometimes the milestones we pray for don’t happen on our timeline. They happen on theirs.

If you could go back to the day your child was diagnosed, knowing everything you know now…

What would you do differently?

When I asked autism mom, registered dietitian, and biomedical practitioner Greer McGuinness this question, her answer was immediate.

Not because it’s easy.
Not because every child is the same.

But because hindsight teaches us things we wish we knew sooner.

Successful outings don’t just happen. They’re built, moment by moment, with preparation. Our job isn’t to force our kids to fit into the world; it’s to give them the tools to navigate it on their own terms.
