At last evening’s Board meeting the Mayor and the Trustees honored Eileen Chambers for her many years of dedication as the Village Historian. Eileen is retiring as she and her husband Fred are in the process of relocating to be closer to their daughter.

Eileen has blessed us at each meeting with a myriad of stories from our village’s past. In addition to this, Eileen has given presentations at the library and has led tours of our cemetery. Eileen also served on the 2024 focus group for our DRI grant application.

But have no fear- this won’t be the last you’ll hear from her, as she plans on keeping the “Fort Plain-Our History” page going strong.

We thank Eileen for her years of service to our village and we wish her and Fred the best of luck with their new adventure. She will be missed!!
