POP-UP EVENT!!! Next week, The Golf Crusade is getting together to play our 100th course in South Carolina. We don’t know if that’s worthy of a celebration, but if you can get to Par 3 West in Greenwood, SC on Wednesday, August 19, new ownership has the lights working again! Usually reserved for Saturdays only, they are allowing us to flip the switch next Wednesday night!

We are inviting YOU out for some night golf UNDER THE LIGHTS!! (Don’t worry, you aren’t required to play with us!). P3W is a fully flood lit 9-hole course! $15 to walk, $25 to ride. Tee times are available now at www.par3west.com. No outside alcohol allowed, but is available for purchase at the course. The event is open to ALL! 🏌️‍♂️🏌️🏌️‍♀️

The (Night) Golf Crusade Course Takeover begins at 8pm. Last tee time approx 9:30 & lights out a little after 10:00(ish). Book before 8pm too, (sunset is 8:11). We will have the cameras out to document the fun! We hope to see you there! Comment with questions!

Yes, it’s only the middle of August, but the thoughts of leaves changing and the contrasts of the grasses and sand have us waxing poetic on the prospects of being right around the corner! Got one step closer to closing out the northeast corner of Georgia on our The Golf Crusade course map last week as we collected the highly enjoyable Apple Mountain Golf Course in Clarkesville. A beautiful morning combined with scoring chances via a number of short pars four made this place a delight! Not to mention a great Golf Barns, Farms & Silos grab too! Course played number 645 on The Crusade.

One of The Golf Crusade’s favorite past times is finding the remote - likely past its prime - rural 9-holer on the way to somewhere else. More often than not, pontificatingly we say “great bones, if someone only had $1M it could be special.” Alas, that wish goes mostly unheard & we file the course away on our map & roster, happy that we had the chance to play another course on the road to 1000.

Williston, SC was the site of one of those rounds. until this week when Old Barnwell founder Nick Schreiber announced that the OB Foundation recently purchased Williston CC with the hopes to renovate and reinvigorate a beloved community asset and gathering space.

Plans call for a $2M injection of capital improvements, including modern irrigation & new tees/greens from Blake Conant, as well as enhance after-school programming for the neighboring middle school over the next 18 months. Best of all, it’s staying open to the public with an aim to keep it affordable “For all who love it”!

We will certainly be watching closely as the health of the game and its important community venues like Williston CC continue to improve!

Kicking off your holiday weekend with some of the best under the radar work the Ol’ Scot Mr. Ross laid down! Morganton, NC’s Mimosa Hills Golf Club is such a fun routing, returning to the clubhouse numerous times with a steady rise in elevation over the back nine that crescendos to the big views of the iconic Table Rock and Grandfather Mountain peaks. A rare day-trip replay for us, but when an all-world foursome of Stephen Edwards Palmetto & Pine Golf - Golf Apparel Fore The Carolinas & Chris Lasher made it a no brainer. Simply, this place cooks hotter than the heat dome sitting over the east coast!

This The Donald Ross Society gem was restored under the skillful watch of Kris Spence quite some time back, but is better than ever in our opinion! One of highest value memberships in the South!

Ohh Rocky Top! We had this one on the to-do list for awhile - and might be thinking about Knoxville’s Cherokee Country Club for just as long after. A championship course on just 90 acres seems impossible, but we can now attest that this early 1900s routing completely holds up!! Simply put, this is pure classic golden age golf at its finest. New super Will Houchin has the place in tip-top shape!
