The Macomb Western Holiday Basketball Tournament is wrapping up this evening and the Canton Little Giants are playing for 3rd place in the tournament!! Here's the current tournament bracket. Colin Davis and Justin Nelson are there to bring the game home for those of you who are unable to attend. Game time is +/- 7:00p with pre-game beginning at about 6:45p. Tonight, we celebrate a Little Giant legend!

WBYS’ own Leon Groover—the longtime Voice of the Little Giants—is being honored with the IHSA Distinguished Media Service Award, recognizing decades of dedication to Canton athletics and our community.

We’re proud to carry the award presentation live on 94.1 BYS prior to tonight’s boys basketball game between Canton and Dunlap. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., with the ceremony expected around 6:45, following the conclusion of the JV game.

And that’s not all—Leon will join us at halftime for a special conversation reflecting on his years on the air, Canton sports past and present, and what life looks like now after the mic.

The Canton Area Chamber of Commerce has made the decision to cancel the Holiday Light Stroll on Saturday, December 13 AND Sunday, December 14 due to extremely cold temperatures. The Holiday Light Stroll will still take place on Friday, December 12th, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Opera House Plaza in downtown Canton.

Tonight is a special night in Canton. Alice Ingersoll Gymnasium has seen nearly a century of memories… but tonight, it adds a new one.

Between the Canton girls’ and boys’ matchups against Morton, the floor will be officially dedicated as "Dave Downey Court" - honoring one of the greatest athletes, leaders, and ambassadors our community has ever produced.

We’re proud to carry the entire ceremony LIVE on 94.1 BYS, your home for Little Giants sports. Once the dedication wraps up, we’ll roll right into full coverage of the Little Giants boys’ game against the Potters (scheduled for approximately 7:00).

Because timing may vary, we’re encouraging you to be tuned in by 6:30 p.m. to make sure you don’t miss a moment of this historic night. And trust us; you don’t want to miss the beginning of tonight’s broadcast.

This afternoon, multiple fire departments have been called to fight a building fire at 44 White Court in downtown Canton. The building is home to Odds and Ends Resale Shop. We’re told that everyone got out safely. Mark Bixler will have more on the story Monday morning on 94.1 BYS.
