Well it's been a little while since my last post. This whole virus thing just put a damper on everything! I am hoping that the green leaves start to show about the time that this quarantine and social distancing practice ends. I'd really like to get back to business and also have fun. Today I would like to write about a recent drone experience that I had. I was on on a drone shoot recently and was not able to get my drone to lock in a GPS signal. I once watched a video in which a couple of guys were deep sea fishing from the beach! Somehow they rigged it up so that the drone would carry the fishing line way out and then drop it in the water! In today's technologically modern society however we may want to update this question a bit to include drones! There seems to be a big push by companies to begin delivering products by drone. Well it was bound to happen. I was flying recently and had what's known in the drone world as a lost link. As I have said before, flying a drone is not for the "faint of heart" as the expression goes. It's scary stuff sometimes. Flying your drone in the summer can be fun but can also present some interesting challenges. One thing to keep in mind is that you are going to sweat. Fairly obvious right? So today I am going to write about my experience of doing three real estate drone shoots all in the same afternoon. As I may have mentioned in previous blog posts, I three batteries. Each battery gives me roughly fifteen minutes of flight time. I had to plan this day carefully. Here is how it went. As I log more flight hours with my drone, I'd like to share some general tips. It seems I learn something new each time I fly. For my most recent flight, I remembered to wear an old pair of sneakers. So I am hoping to start getting more comfortable flying drones inside. This way I have indoor and outdoor coverage if needed. I worked off a cheap indoor drone in trade to start learning. I now have a DJI Tello. I really like it. It did not come with any accessories so I got some extra batteries and a wireless controller. [ 412 more words ]

So winter can pose some interesting challenges to being a drone operator for obvious and sometimes not so obvious reasons. Obviously, it's cold out there! And the next reason is the scenery doesn't necessarily look that great being so grey and bare. However, as I have mentioned in previous blogs, sometimes there is beauty in that. So It's coming up on my first year as a licensed drone operator. I think I did my first flight last last March after the snow began to melt. I never really expected to get much flight time in winter due to cold and nasty weather but also because there are no leaves on the trees. On the other hand, there may be some beauty in this. After a little winter break here, as an old friend of mine use to say, "It's great to be back!" Thankfully we have had a relatively mild winter so far here in CT, USA.
